Lemme see....
First car was a '74 Chevelle Malibu Classic - Boat - Was fun while it lasted, high schooler, basically wore it out.....
2nd '67 Ford Cortina, my step dad had it towed off and it got towed by the cops and never saw her again, it was a GT and it was fun, but no money to work on it or get it licensed as the chap before me lost the title and I had to jump through hoops to get the title and never got it....I liked that car
3rd was a '76 Ford Grenada, good for getting A to B
4th was a Chevy Sprint, 3 cylinder, got 50mpg!
5th '73 Olds Cutlass, fast and a good sleeper!
6th 80 AMC Concord, ran good, nothing special.....
7th 96 Nissan Hard Body, was a nice truck
8th 97 Kia Sephia, ex wife has it and it was nothing special at all, ran good but she wrecked twice since and it looks terrible, I paid it off and paid insurance for her......I also got my '64 Chevy C-10
8th '00 Ford Taurus 24V V-6, Mach Stereo (Divorce car) ran good, killer sound, tranny broke and rebuilt, broke again and.....
10th '00 GMC Yukon, 140,000+ on the clock still runs like a champ, having trouble with the fresh air/recir air door sticking, suspect door bad or a pen in the way that slid down a vent.....My new wife had a 95 Ford Aerostar, good for running kids had 187,000+ miles on the clock, original tranny and traded that for.....
11th '05 Dodge Neon SXT, good transportation, average 36+mpg
So you see, a divorced (happily re-married), rural No. California working as a Jailer in the 3rd largest land wise County with 43,000 people give or take, didn't own anything too wild.
Of all of them.....
I love my Chevy C-10, dropped a 350 in it and yanked out the 6 cylinder, replaced the rear end (tranny back was redone), just did a lot of work to it and learned a lot about mechanics from that truck, it has a burned valve right now but have a set of heads for it ready to go, just time and money right now, got kids, kid's sports, my boy has his '67 Dodge D100 that I help him maintain to keep the lad safe and bills! I love my Chevy, easy to work on and easy to get parts for it. I've got headers, 2 1/2" exhaust exiting behind the cab. It's got the granny 4sp, Grant 3 spoke wood wheel, a steering column mounted tach, gauges and all of the electrical works, I re-wired some of the lights back to new. It needs front end work and the burnt valve fixed. I got a set of heads for it and just need time and money right now.....It also needs a re-paint and upholstery work....I still love it though. I got it from a good friend for $100.00 and it's more sentimental than anything. My dream, although unlikely is a Duramax frame under the cab....64DMAX on the license plate would be cool!
I really like our Yukon, it was the first car me and the wife got together and have some good memories in it. I get about 17+mpg, comfortable on trips, stereo is decent and it shines really nice for a novice detailer.....I put some series 50, Ultra wheels from a Les Schwab and some Toyo Open Country A/T tires and they are oversized a bit. It's a 2wd and everyone thinks it's 4wd, including the chain control guys in our area, so I get to go. 4wd isn't the cure all for snow/mud, but safe drving is. I never chained up and know how to drive in snow. Although a 16 year old boy's birthday to Tahoe in the snow was fun.....
Okay, I've rambled enough.....
Sorry for no climax on a "cool" car to drive. I test drove a mid '80's camaro but couldn't afford it....It was fun though!
