Well, I'm getting a Honda...old school too!

1986 Honda Interceptor 500! :) I have been in the market for a starter bike and after several failed attempts at getting one, due to goofy and shady sellers, I finally found a good honest seller (knock on wood). I think this will be a good bike to start on and since it is older and cheap I won't cry about dropping it or laying it down. :)

Thanks Bigfoot!

Thanks for the links Red98gt!

My first choice was a Ninja 500 but I really wanted something you don't see too much of and then this Interceptor came along. One thing I would REALLY like to do, once I get comfortable on it and as long as I keep it, is paint it the yellow they use on the Civic Type R's. For some reason I think that would be cool.

Did you test ride it? ;)

LMK if I can be of service/help :2thumbs:

I'll be test riding it before we take it. I am HOPING I can get my in-laws trailer and go get it tomorrow night or Friday night.

And thanks Steve!

Bob, looks like you found a great bike. You might want to check out the forums at VFRD - vfrdiscussion home. It is mostly made of of members with newer VFRs but I know there are several members that have the VF500 and you should still be able to get help with the bike there if need be.

The main problem with an older bike is going to be spare parts. eBay is your friend there. My VFR is a 97 and Honda has already stopped making some of the parts for my bike. If you do need parts and they have not been discontinued check out Service Honda Home of the CR500AF 500AF 500AFX Junior-X - Honda Motorcycle Parts as they have the best prices out there for Honda parts.

Thanks for those links and the tips! I am going to check them out right now.

As I am mapping out directions to go get the bike for tomorrow the guy e-mails me and tells me his wife sold the freaking bike! ***?!?!?!?

That sucks! Email him back and say, "No, you sold the bike"

Oh well, maybe it's better off this way. Might have been a problem bike. Gotta look at the bright side right. :wall

I swear finding someone that knows how to do business anymore is getting harder and harder. I guess I am old school but when you make a deal with someone you should stick with it. I have a while before I even get my licenese so I have time. I just hate wasting my time with these jerk offs. LOL Oh well.
