We don't talk about Klasse SG

Much anymore. Nor do I really see it recommended very much. A product of Autopia's early years seems to be forgotten. Does anybody still use it?

I think it's still one of the highest quality products available. I don't understand a lot of choices people use for waxes and sealants instead of klasse and other top durable non greasy sealants. Out of the high grade sealants, it is the most economical and puts on a great shine, and probably has the best shelf life of anything. Only downside for me is the smell of SG and it is a little harder to use. It's still better than 90% of what's out there.

I still use it. Not much need to talk about it, though. Everybody is pretty familiar with it and the new guys generally just go for the hyped products and Klasse SG isn't one of them.

I also think that the technology Klasse is based on is pretty antiquated. I highly doubt the new sealants provide much more in terms of look or durability, but I do think they have improved in usability and that's a big factor if you use something on a regular basis.

Klasse sg is kind of a niche product as the application takes time to get it right. I Like about 6 layers to get the most as far as looks and protection. With a 24 hr cure time between coats it can take a week to wax the car and you have to not drive it or wash it every day. If you are willing to put in the work it is AMAZING. But most people don't have this kind of time or energy and it not possible for clients cars. I really like it, but i can see why there is not a lot of hype.

X2 ^^ I still use it .. I don't mind the work and with the WOWO method I use its relatively easy.

I still use it on my personal vehicles ... in fact it's on my F150 S'crew right now. :woot:

It can be a little finicky, but I personally find the protection and durability are second to none. Some newer products are surely more user-friendly and give a less sterile look, and many feel that KSG is kind of old technology. It does take a few layers to bring out it's best, so that's surely a drawback for customer vehicles. A bottle will last a LONG time.

MBenz, you hit it right on the nail!!

1. I use SG using WOWO and never had a problem.

2. Layering is of course preferable, but most clients can't afford the time.

Polycharging SG could be good.

3. My choice on well-prepped white, silver and light colours.

4. Stops beading water very quickly, but funnily, the gloss is still there.

5. Economical and dependable.

6. Adds a noticeable improvement on well-prepped surface, after using AIO.

It's a great product and I will continue to use it. Many enthusiasts continually explore new products with fancy names, but amidst it all, Klasse SG remains a reliable classic that still delivers the goods and will not lose out to any significant degree vs the other sealants.

Some of my favorite products are a pia to use and Klasse SG is no exception :)

I still use it on the MPV, and on some wheels (though I'm leaning towards FK1000P for those now). I'd sorta figured that anything that needed saying about KSG had already been posted by now, and I don't recommend it because IMO it really only looks good a) on certain paints and b) on basically marring-free finishes.

That last bit is the kicker...if somebody has to ask about what to use, the chances that they have, *and can maintain* a perfectly marring-free finish are pretty remote.

Also, some people find it tricky to get 4-6 layers on there, especially if they have to use the vehicle daily or they can't keep it dust-free.

This is an interesting topic.

I thought about getting some SG recently. I even had the opportunity to pick up a 16.9oz bottle for only ~$13 CDN with the current sale at eshine, which is an amazing deal for such a highly respected product.

I could get SG, however I'm already happy with several other LSPs I own. I love the slickness of 4*UPP. I love the salad oil wet look I can get from EX-P. I love Souveran on black. etc.

The next LSP I'm excited to try is not KSG, but rather Wolfgang DGPS 3.0. I think it will give me the look I want (and ease of use) better than SG could.

Online forums are all about trends, and this one is no exception. Each time something new comes out or someone that a lot of people look to suggests a product, it becomes the talk and other items get left behind in discussions.

However, just because it doesn't get talked about doesn't mean that people still aren't using it. It just isn't part of the cool-aid that most people are sipping at the moment.

Spot on. We sell more Klasse than any other of the 400+ products we have. Maybe 10% of our customers are coming from forums.

Klasse is more reflective than WG DGPS where DGPS is deeper/wetter. Klasse SG can be a PITA to apply/remove if you are not used to using it where DGPS is foolproof. Klasse lasts longer also. KSG is also great product if you plan on topping with a nuba due to its high reflection.

Klasse is great, but I found UPGP to have better durability (using four coats of each). Maybe it's just me, but that is my experience.

Of all the products I have used, I like the way Klasse finishes best - minus any residue it leaves behind. Which is it's main down fall; is sucks to remove.

Cool.

I'll look forward to when you have a future Wolfgang sale. ;):heelclick

Hopefully by spring time... :woot2:

Polycharged Klasse is so much easier to use. I can remember when it was all the "rage" on the forum. It was right up there with S100 :)

Memories....
