waxing decal stripes?

Yet another question floks.

My 98 Montero has factory-applied decals on the lower door area on both sides (see photo, the silver area at the bottom of both doors). Is it okay to use a PC to apply wax to these without doing damage?

Thanks again guys.

Just applying wax with your PC should be ok for your decals but from the looks of the side panel area, you will still have some places which will have to be done by hand anyway. Based on that observation, I would just do the decal area by hand and not even worry about it.

By the way, what kind of wax are you going to use?

I Have Never Really Cared About My Pinstripes And PC'ed right over them. It has never really hurt them, or changed them in any way.

I also have the tape on pin stripes on my truck and a lot of customers vehicles also do. I've gone over them w/ a rotary b4 but I do try to avoid them.

One thing is the edges will collect wax, clay, etc. You'll have to try to avoid it or come back and use a brush to brush it off. A real paint if it goes down the whole length of the vehicle or if they have some fancy flame striping.

Thanks for the replies! For ColaBear, I'm using Griot's Best of Show Wax. I'll let you know how it turns out, and post pics.

Thanks for all the help guys. I finished the Montero yesterday, unfortunately it started raining so I couldn't get any good pics. I'll post some next time I get her cleaned up. I ended up using the PC on the decals with no problems. A little wax did build up on the edges, but wasn't a problem to clean off. Thanks again.
