Wax on windows - Old myth?

When I was a kid I always heard never get wax on the windows or it will streak like crazy when it rains and you use your wipers. Was this true with older waxes ie the 70's waxes or was this just an old wives tale?

I've tried waxing my windows, and while it looks clear in certain lights, the streaks really show during dusk. I usually will use waxes on sunroof glass or sometimes the rear window on cars that don't have rear wipers. Lately, i've been using a little OCW on the side windows with great success to combat the rain. NEVER on the winshield though, even cleaners like AIO.

I wax all my windows except my windshield. For that I use VM. If you get streaks with the wax, they will go away the next time you wash it.

Protect-All, referring to the protectant sponge things? I have two of them that I got free with my orders of QEW. I'll have to try them on the glass.

I'm going to try 303 on my glass too. Why not...

I have never tried the sponge samples although i'm sure they will work just fine. Give it a shot and see what you think. This is what I use:

16oz pump spray.

It actually makes paint look really nice.

Yeah that's the same label as on these sponge pack things. I'll give it a shot.

And Corey, I plan on trying 303 on my mom's car (the entire car) next time I visit.

I put a coat of #26 on all exterior glass via a black LC pad on a PC this past tuesday. It rained today and I must say it's really cool having all the water fly off the windshield when your only going 25 mph :)

Never did much of anything to the car glass until we got our black Avalanche and I started spending some $$$ on top-end cleaning stuff. At first, got some AIO and after reading more about it, it said to use it on the glass and I did--been addicted to the polishing abilities and insane water beading ever since.

Matter of fact, now it bugs the heck out of me seeing cars in the rain where the water just kind of "sticks" to the glass--since I'm so used to the smoother feel and water repellentness of Klasse on glass. Seems to last FOREVER on all the windows except for the windshield, where still using the wipers causes the protectant to wear off.

I use Zaino on my and my girlfriends windows and there are no streaks whatsoever. The windows stay nice and clean in the morning as well. One wipe when there id dew and it is clean, before it was not as clean.

Girlfriend loved how the water just flew off her windshield when it reained, said she did not even need to turn on the wipers.

I know some people are going to think I am crazy, but I used Z8 on the insides of my windows and the film does not build up anymore and they are incredibly clean now. Don't even notice them.

I am a huge fan of Vanilla Moose on exterior glass. No streaks..no dust and it works just as good (if not better) than RainX. On dark or privacy tinted glass it has a super reflective quality to boot.

I will put in a second vote for the AIO. just remember to put in on light. water beads like crazy, it also removes stubborn water spots. your windows are also clear as can be. just my 2 cents.
