Wax issue

Does anyone have every compound, wet sand, polish when there are wax on the paint? What will happen?

Wha? That didn't make any sense at all. If you are asking what will happen if you polish the paint when wax is on it, then the answer is that you will remove the wax. Same thing if you wet sand it. Compounding is technically the same thing as polishing, but the answer is that unless you are just washing, quick detailing, or adding more wax, then the chances are that you are removing the wax. Wax just isn't that durable and won't stand up to much at all.

I agree here with Jngrbrdman ummm what?

Like he said any type of abrassive whether its a polish or a compound, which is just a more abbrassive polish will remove a wax, so if you do that you will have to wax again.

Maybe the OP was wondering if the existing wax needed to be stripped before starting the wet sanding, compounding, polishing process. (Which I don't think is necessary)

Some polishes are a little more picky than others. I've read of users having trouble with Menzerna SIP if they didnt strip the surface first. I've never used SIP, so I cannot speak from experience; however, I've read that more than once..SO, I wouldnt be shocked if certain polishes behave a little differently for you on a well waxed/sealed finish.

Thank you. The first two answer wasn't an answer because I know you need to strip wax off before wet sanding...... I just want to know if wet sanding , compound, polish will work if wax is still on it. Yesterday I want to take a scratches out on a spot but the wax was on it. I started to wet sand it and it feel like very hard to do it with 2000 paper.

2000 grit is a fairly high grit paper. You may have to use something a little bit more coarse depending on how bad the scratches are. If the scratches are very bad, you may want to just live with them.

Wax is a very fragile, very thin layer. It doesn't take much of anything to remove wax or sealant from a paint surface.

These scratch seems like someone put a box on it and slide it off. I didn't strip the wax yesterday and go ahead with the 2000 sand paper. It feels like it's sliding off the sand paper. My question was if it less affective if I don't take the wax off first? Or should I use 1500 sand paper without taking off the wax. Thanks
