Wax for black...

M26 darkens the darker colors, not lighten it. At least, that's from what I've heard and from my own experience.

Z5Pro is supposed to mimic the carnauba look, giving a more subdued reflection compared to Z2Pro. I've had Z5Pro and Z2Pro on my mom's Charcoal metallic E320 and, personally I like the crisp reflections you get from Z2Pro as opposed to the softer reflections from Z5Pro. It's your choice on what kind of look you like. From what you've said, I'm guessing you would like Z2Pro better.

Since I have a black car myself, I have been paying special attention to everybody's wax preferences for black. Pinnacle Souveran seems to enjoy first place as the favorite of the majority, but so many other waxes are also said to look good on black: Fuzion, ClearKote Carnauba Moose, Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Wax (M26), CG 50/50, P21S 100%, VW Concours Red, Collinite 845, Wet Obsession, PB Natty's Blue, NXT, Mother's Reflections, Swissvax Best of Show. In fact, one rarely hears of a good wax that doesn't look good on black. I want to try them all!

At the moment, my present favorite is Harly Wax. No doubt that will change this spring when I try something else out.

for deep and wet shine on black if work by hand :

Deep crystal polish step 1

Deep crystal polish step 2

pinnacle souveran x 2

zymol field glaze .

I didn't run out of the TWP, I just simply want to try something different. I love my car, and I love detailing. (I didn't know that TWP is discontinued?) Pinnacle Souveran seems to be the favorite from what ive been able to gather here? Can someone else point me to a link?

Never mind, just found it. I didn't think it would be this much :O ummm, whats the best cheapest thing? hahaha....:LOLOL

I just checked Autogeek & Pinnaclewax.com. Ouch! The price just went up again. didn't it used to be $69.99 just a few years ago? Glad I got mine BOGO back then!:nervous2:

CK's RMG/CMW combo looks very good on black.

Check out Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Wax (M26). It's sold at local auto stores, and at $12 a bottle it's a bargain.

Ill give megs no. 26 a try, seeing as its readily available. What exactly is it, a carnuba based wax or something else? Can anyone else confirm if infact the turtle wax platinum is discontinued?

Id really like to give zaino a shot. I keep hearing about them and would love to try it. Keep the advice coming on Zaino, Im debating between the Z2(as someone mentioned earlier) and the Z5.....

I would have to say that PS is hands down the best wax I've ever used on a black vehicle. However, if you're looking for something a bit cheaper, Natty's Blue looks almost as good IMO. I mean, they're virtually indistinguishable. The reason I prefer PS is simply because it's so much easier to work with.

Actually, I find Natty's Blue to be just as easy to work with. Easy on, easy off. Same durability too. Lousy.:chuckle:

M26 is a blended wax made up of natural and synthetic ingredients. Mike Phillips explains:
M-26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax is a Pure Wax. Generally speaking, when we talk about a wax being a pure wax, we mean it has no cleaning ability, therefore it should only be used on new, like new or pre-cleaned and pre-polished surfaces. The primary purpose of a pure wax is to provide protection, it does this by leaving behind a sacrifical barrier film.

#26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax is sometimes thought of as a Carnauba based wax, probably because it uses the word yellow in the title, and people usually associate carnauba with yellow because one of the commercially available grades of carnauba waxes is called, #1 Yellow Carnauba wax. The back of the label on the bottle also talks about the use of Carnauba wax in the formula. But if you read the back label carefully, it says that #26 Hi Tech Wax is a blend of Carnauba, Silicones, Polymers, Resins and other waxes. Besides protecting your finish, #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax will also darken medium to dark color paints created deep, dark reflections....

Hope this helps.

Ok great, thanks a lot. Someone mentioned P21S earlier. To be honest, I didn't find it as amazing as everyone seems to make it out to be. I actually stopped using it once I gave the Platinum a try.

Haha, I agree about the durability (or lack thereof) for sure. But c'mon--Natty's Blue comes off pretty easy, but a stiff breeze will pretty much take PS off :heelclick
