What is the best way to wash new towels? I just took delivery of quite a few Mequiars X 2020 towels and planned to wash them in cold with Woolite He a couple of times.

Is this a good idea? Any suggestions?

As noted, no softener, no dryer sheets. Otherwise experiences vary with regard to which detergent is best (I often just use plain blue Dawn, yeah...in the washing machine) or whether to dry with/without heat (I use "medium" or "low" heat). IME MFs aren't all that fragile but some people are more careful about their treatment than I am.

Hmmm. Never wouldve considered Dawn for washing MFs. I might as well try it, too bad I just did "garage laundry" the other day.

Umm...good advise, but I am not going to risk putting dish soap in a front loading washer. Going to stay with Woolite He I guess. I never run them through a dryer. Always let them air dry.

Amusing side: a buddy of mine who had never used a dishwasher put normal dish soap in mine once. The kitchen was full to over two meters of foam and the living room was being invaded before we noticed. Lesson learned.

Don't put dish soap in a front loader!!! Even a top loader will foam up.

Frontloaders use a special low-foam detergent - even less foam than toploader detergent.

The best WW's I have came from PAC. The Big Blue towels are/were great, super soft and absorb a tremendous amount of water

I usually just pretreat the nasty spots with a Dawn/water solution and let that be all the detergent I use.

In our front-loader it was a bit much, foam-wise, so I don't blame you. I can't get my MFs clean with something like Woolite (finding good, effective HE detergents can be a challenge), but it's good for my sheepskin mitts.

Heh heh, that's a good one about the dishsoap inthe dishwasher

I guess there are a lot of variables here, but the foaming wasn't all *that* bad in my front-loader; I was prepared for much worse what with the "use HE detergent only!" instructions.

I get basically no foaming from my top-loader in the garage unless I use too much, certainly nothing I consider problematic. When do use too much it just requires extra rinses, no real harm done.

Hey, I was highly skeptical too, but it's working so well that it's pretty much replacing my MF Detergent regimen.

Ah, okay, I often do just that, pre treat with Dawn or a degreaser/APC and I've always been doing regular/lightly soiled MFs with Charlie's Soap. Works well, I always add vinegaqr in the liquid fabric softener dispenser. The MFs have years of service left in them.

I have started to pre soak my dirty ones in my Rinse bucket with some apc+ in it and it works pretty good for me because the water sure does get nasty.

Oh yeah! The Review section...I completely forgot about that...I haven't looked at it for ages.

Which towel are you suggesting I review?

I was suggesting that you write a review on AG's page for that product. As of now it has 0 reviews. Your negative review will help discourage people from buying it.

To AG's credit, after complaining to them they credited the cost of the towels.

However, writing a review on their product page is an excellent idea.

Also, I've had opportunity to use the Mothers WW as well as the massive purple one I bought off eBay. I'm waiting to try them on a black before I review them, though.

Ok, done. Let's see if they publish it now.

Not sure what the OP had but I have used AG's light green ww towels for quite some time and never had an issue. Maybe it was a manufacturing error?

As an update, to Autogeek's credit, I posted a negative review on the products web-page and they published it! That's big of them as they review every review and could have easily killed it.

I can't answer that question, you'll have to use it on something to find out. I do a dry CD test with every single one of my towels and also a wet test.

I suggest you do the same and figure out if its safe or not.
