Understanding Menzerna

Not knowing what your paint actually looks like or what type was used is tough, but from your other posts it seems that you had already polish it already and are looking for the final polish step to be perfect.

I never use a pc for correction and have never used it on new paint neither, but you can try the FPII on a finish pad on speed 5 or 6 and work it safely. Just stay away from the edges.

Was it wet sanded?

What type of paint was it?

I was painted about 2 month ago so it has fully cured. It is an Infiniti G35 and a new hood was put on at top end repair facility so I believe they use dupont paint with clear over it. I used the SSRs to correct (remove Swirls etc.) with the PC (used SSR2 (x2) and SSR 1 (x1)) and it did a great job but was looking for that final step. My attempt with FPII did not yield the same results as before and actually took the paint back a step I thought.

I had the chance to try out the Menzerna SIP and 106ff today.

Holy cow!

I have most certainly found a new polish...one that I doubt I will ever leave. SIP is simply incredible! I polished my yellow car (non-clear coat) that was polished only 3 weeks ago using Poorboys SSR 2.5.

I was not completely satisfied with the results from the SSR2.5, which is why I went looking for another polish, and SIP is obviously highly regarded on this forum.

Man, this stuff really exceeded my expectations even though they were fairly high to begin with! The SIP did a better job of correction than SSR 2.5...but it just seemed to be more than that. It added a real depth and clarity to the paint that I had not seen in a long time...if ever. The paint was very "solid" looking and wet. Incredible.

I did follow with 106ff, and there was probably a small improvement, but not much. The SIP finished very well, and I probably could have gone straight to a LSP if I wanted to. I will probably see more of an advantage with the 106 on darker colors.

Bottom line: yes, SIP is fairly expensive...but you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

In hindsight, I really wish that I had taken before and after pictures, but I had no idea I would see this much of an improvement!

....and Rob I maintain that same high gloss finish with my trusty.....nevermind.;)

Funny you mention that!!!

I forgot to add: when I washed the car this morning in prep for the polishing, guess what I used? Yep: the infamous GROUT SPONGE!! I figured I would give it another chance.

And it worked ok. But, when I was done, I came to a conclusion and it was the same one I had reached before: it just is NOT for me. I just didn't like the way it felt when using it. I much prefer the luxurious, slick feel of my LW mitt.

I think I will be able to maintain my Menzerna SIP/106 finish just fine with my old standby LW mitt! :)

Rob, I'm just ribbin ya! I don't get anything one way or the other.:)

Oh no, I know you were. I just thought it was interesting/ironic that you said that given that I actually used the GS this morning! ;)
