Ultima Paint Guard Plus vs. Opti-Seal

I use both.

I find that UPGP has better durability and is easier to clean, but OS has better looks. UPGP has a nice reflective "sealant" look, while OS has a wetter deeper look. But I find you need about 2 or 3 layers before UPGP starts looking good, while OS looks good after 1 layer.

3 layers of UPGP topped off with OS seems to have good synergy. Looks better than either on their own, imo.

If I were to use just one, I'd give the nod to UPGP because of the durability and is easier to clean. I also find it easier to apply - less streaky than OS. I always have streaks that need to be buffed off with OS, since I haven't perfected the application process yet :doh

I can only speak for Ultima UPGP last like crazy and nothing sticks to it. I put some on a new black car in about august 08, another coat Setpember and it lasted until after the winter. Nothing stick to the paint! not bug, tar or anyting.

Super easy to apply once you get the hang of it. I still mess up a pannel once an a while with too much product. One its cured a shot of QD fixes it right up.

I used UPGP and OS side by side on the hood of my brother's Odyssey. Immediately after application, the UPGP side was noticably wetter. The next morning both sides were very slick but visually, I could not tell them apart. Neither could my brother, my Dad and, later that afternoon, several guests who were there for my neice's birthday party. Even when we pulled it out in the sun, both sides looked identical. My brother runs the van through the local tunnel wash 2-3 times a month so I'll monitor how each side holds up.

I'm interested in finding out the test.

Just got a new bottle, and it was manufactured 6/1/09, very recently bottled.

Must be selling well, well worth the try for anyone who has not used a WOWA product yet.

I bought my 4oz UPGP from Autogeek last month and it had a Mfg Date of 03-24-08. I guess, it is not selling that well at AG.

Where did you order yours from?

Yeah, I got some older UPGP from Autogeek too, kinda disappointed that it was that old. I posted here

It's been a couple years now since that test. At 6 months both sides were beading still, I think I re-detailed it for him shortly after that.

:thx I'm pretty impress by UPGP and is great to know that it can resist tunnel wash for that long.

I'd be a little nervous about a product that old-especially one with a history of solidifying in the bottle.

If you notice Autogeek doesn't hace UPGP listed on there Ultima page anymore. Betcha there stock got really old, my guess. I just ordered 12 ounces myself and went to Autopiacarcare to get it, got a July 09 date on it.

Anybody have any idea how long it will take to get UPGP back on the shelf at AG cause looking to place an order but really wanting to try this stuff out before winter comes.

From talking to Meghan, it sounded like they might be dropping the whole Ultima line. Your best bet would be to call AG and ask.

Bump this thread!

Dude, this is like the third time that you have bumped this thread!

Just buy one of them and try it out for yourself. I've tried both of them, and really like them both. You can't go wrong with either.
