Ultima Paint Guard Plus vs. Opti-Seal

How long does OS last?

Holding up well at nearly 4 months on a GMC Denali I applied it to in mid April. Washed it today and it still was beading well and had decent slickness. Most other vehicles, I have been reapplying at the 3 month point like I do with other products. Nice to have well educated customers who want their vehicles protected 4 times a year. ;)

I just got UPPG in today, hopefully I can get it on at least a few cars this weekend. I do have an '05 Carrera to detail that I have been using OS on regularly, it ought to make for a good comparison.

Should be very interesting.

It would be nice to see some cars done that don't include

Porsche, VW, Benz, Vette? Of course these cars will look awesome with this stuff.

The paint is much nicer than common everyday

cars like my Grand Prix.

VW's and Benz's are cars that have a wide spectrum of paint quality ranging from pretty flat to heavy orange peel. In the end it really doesn't matter except people get taken in by the car itself. Honestly there is nothing exciting by just looking at a VW Phaeton but the PGP looked killer on it.

I'm sure it did. It just seems odd that we haven't seen any other cars on here

that have used it. Maybe they have a hard time spending the $$(Like me).

At any rate, I guess I'm still in denial that I can get anymore shine out of my car then I already have.

I've been using it on my 05' toyota tacoma with 60k+ miles and I'm loving the results. It pretty much does what everyone else has been saying. Very easy to wash the car, very easy to quick detail. In the rain, the water just falls right off...no beading "trails". Good stuff

You're not in denial. There "IS" an end-point on how well a finish can appear. Perfect is perfect and max shine is max shine. Prep to reach this max and basically no matter what you use as the LSP, be it $5 spray wax, a $30-$70 sealant or wax or a $1800 gourmet wax, if you prep to the max there will very little distinguishable difference. The only question is how long will this pristine appearance will last and how much time do you want to spend keeping it looking this way.

As the saying goes: "You can dress a pig in a tuxedo but in the end its still a pig.":nervous:

You can find anything on Google if you look hard enough. :D

Look at the depth and clarity of the shine on that pig though! Which one is it?

Opti-seal OR Ultima PGP

Ok, back on topic with this:tumblewee

Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does, can he fly? No he can't, that's because he's a pig - Homer Simpson

Don't forget that another of PGP strengths is supposed to be detergent resistance. Maybe that can be tested between the two.

Tell you what, I am detailing my father in laws Chrysler Crossfire today and tomorrow. I will do a door half OS and half UPGP.

All the prep is done: Washed and clayed.

Im going to polish the car out with Menzerna SIP. Now question, do you want me to just use the UPGP or do you want me to do what Ultima tells us to do and use the UPPP and then the UPGP? You decided but you gotta let me know by around 7pm CDT.

You must be really busy:buffing: those 2 cars----Cant wait for your report:grinno:

Hehehe. My favorite bit from the movie . . . I was annoying the heck out of my gf for about a week afterward by breaking into song. I thought it went like this, though:

Spider pig, spider pig

Does whatever a spider pig does.

Can he swing from a web?

No he can't; he's a pig.

Oh, and if you stick around for the credits, you get to hear the Spider Pig theme with full orchestra and choir.

P.S. One of my favorite scenes from the series played in syndication last night. Lisa is mad at Bart, and as she storms out of the room, Bart asks her what's wrong.

Lisa: Nothing. (leaves)

Homer: Boy, are YOU in trouble.

Bart: How come?

Homer: When a woman says nothing’s wrong, everything is wrong. And when a woman says everything’s wrong, EVERYTHING is wrong. And when a woman says something’s not funny, <chuckling> you better not laugh your *** off!

OP: Sorry for the threadjack . . . I'm done; promise.

I used UPGP on a metallic green BMW 528 today over Optimum Polish. Seemed to go on fine, dries about as quickly as Opti-Seal. Kind of hard to compare the appearance directly because I didn't do anything side by side but my first impression is that UPGP has really nice depth and wetness.
