UK Retailers Listing

Emailed Dedication to Detail last night regarding the easiest place for us UK Autopians to pick up Edge 2000 pads and more importantly, adaptors for UK rotaries etc. They have two distributors in the UK:

AutoSmart - 01543 482929

Farecla - 01920 465041

I haven't tried either of these yet but will be doing so shortly.

Ben.

Autosmart usually only sell to F/T cleaners but I'm told they'll sell to a private individual who does P/T work (hint ;)

Farecla are usually around £12 for a hook & loop pad - all others have a fixed M14 backing plate AFAIK

Personally, I'd watch this space as pad supply may be about to improve dramatically....

Well I've got a company to put it through so that should do the trick! And Andy, do you know something we don't about pad supply?!!

Ben

Yes and no!

In a nutshell I'm thoroughly fed up with working my a** off making someone else very rich. My job's started to spill into my private life and TBH I've had enough. I've said for a while now that I probably have a window of maybe 12-18 months to either do something about it or continue being essentially a rep for the next 20 years - cue stress, heart attack at 45 etc etc and life's too short.

That's all I can say right now - plans are afoot to use my "talents" in detailing on a proper level. I have contacts at the very top of the specialist car industry and I've started to make use of them. As Ben's certainly proved, there's people out there who will pay proper money for skilled detailing and I figure there's a serious shortage of skilled detailers at present (present company excepted naturally!) in the UK - comments from "pros" on other forums are IMHO proving that point.

As for pads and product, I've put some ideas to some people which were kind of resurrected from a while back but I'm working on figures etc right now so please watch this space.

Clear as mud??

Andy

What do you mean "there's a serious shortage of skilled detailers at present"? Are there more in the UK than you could count on one hand? :lol

GO FOR IT! :woohoo:

Here's to your success! :xyxthumbs

All the very best

Cal :D

Cheers gents!

Cal - from where I'm at, I reckon there are very few proper detailers over here! That doesn't include the Swissol/Zymol mob but they tend to use only one product line which is fair enough I guess.

I've already rung around 10 contacts and got very positive feedback from them plus immediate customer referral business from a couple. I'm seeing a gent with an SLR shortly as I'm hoping he'll allow me to use that (and a few of his "other" cars....) in my portfolio.

Merc ML, Crossfire, Mondeo and a brand new Boxster to do tomorrow - starting at 7am and finishing, well, when I'm done. Mondeo is 3 weeks old and someone's keyed it so that'll be a challenge!

Who knows what'll happen but the dealer I'm working for later this week can provide me with enough work to equal my current take home pay.

Yeah, I noticed that too recently.

Did a search and found that Optimum Wax is pretty decent stuff, anybody here tried it in UK ?

I'm expecting a bottle any day now... so I'll post back here with some info once I've had a chance to use it. I ordered a bottle from PakShak along with some other stuff. Seems like a pretty reasonable price that MotorGeek are selling it for.

LoweJ,

Hey, been on the side lines for a while. just to let you know we also stock and supply all the Mother's range.

For accessories, we use www.atomiza.co.uk. They are extremely helpful and get stuff out quickly. They also supply fine and coarse clay bar. If you go, tell them Evolution Valet recommended you.

Cheers

Kev

I'd second evolution - atomiza are top guys - ask for Tanya as she's really helpful and doesn't mind "non-trade, non-bulk" orders. Postage's it a tad high but product prices are low so compensate (they're really good for bottles and brushes, applicators etc and they also sell pads for the rotary which I'm about to try)

BTW welcome evolutionvalet :welcome

Maybe you'd be able host a UK Autopian get together some time ;)

Andy,

Sounds a great idea. Hope you're business takes off. It is hard graft to get the work but once word of mouth is out there working for you and you are good then it is great..
