UDM SWITCH UPDATE BULLETIN
SUMMARY
Some customers have noted that their Ultimate Detailing Machine accidentally switched itself on when:
1. They put the machine down on its back
2. They bumped the switch slide
The result of the "accidental on" incident causes polish to sling and other mishaps. User's should take care to avoid this issue:
1. Keep your finger on the switch slide when putting polish on your pad or changing pads.
2. Take care when putting the polisher down on its back
In all cases, wear goggles or other safety glasses when using the UDM and other electrical tools. Unplug the machine when changing backing plates. Good tool safety practices are the responsibility of the user.
RESOLUTION
In keeping with best tool safety practices, The Perfect Shine, LLC acknowledges a design change is needed to prevent "accidental on". The Perfect Shine, LLC will manufacture a new switch slider that is smaller and fully protected by the slide rails incorporated in the main body of the machine.
The new slide will be available to all registered owners and will be incorporated in all machines manufactured after 1 September, 2007.
The new slide will be shipped via regular USPS post with installation instructions. The part is easily installed without disassembly of the machine.
The attached photos show the prototype slide mechanism. The Perfect Shine, LLC has thoroughly tested the modified slide and are confident that it will eliminate the "accidental on" issue.
