Total Nube Tire Question:

Nice and Cool
After searching the threads about a good tire dressing and wheel cleaner I have come to the following conclusion. 1. Stay away from SG for the wheels (Most are using Mequiars) 2. Use PB B&B for the tires (found some great examples of this one). Anyone have anything to add without getting on the SG soap box. :rockon (I Love this guy)

Well, depending on the wheels and condition you might be able to get away with just a simple APC. I have used Meguiars Wheel Brightener on a couple family members cars and this stuff is insane! I dilute it 4:1 and bought a gallon so I am going to get alot of use out of this.

Any water based dressing is going to work great on the tires depending on the look your after this is something to consider when buying a tire dressing. I have been using Adams VRT on my tires, interior and outside trim. My trim has always been taking very well care of so VRT works great for mine.

VRT gives more of a suede type look. Not shinny at all. I don't like that look but some do. I could apply 2 coats of it to get a more "darker" look but not shinny and that is what I usually do. I get the stuff by the gallon as well.

Poorboys is something that gives a much darker and somewhat bright look to it in my eyes which I totally love and thinking of switching to this for tires and using the VRT for the interior atleast until I try something else for the interior and see what I like. Thinking about Natural Look for the interior. I've also used 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tires, interiors and trim. This gives a much shinnier look to the tires which is nice if you ask me and is very durable. Usually lasted maybe 1-1 1/2 weeks per application.

Another would be Meguiars Hyper Dressing. This can be diluted to different ratios for different look and I think it looks great as well and would be a good thing to have around if your doing this part-time/full-time or just on the weekend for a friend or two here and there. I'm also going to buy some of that so...

This goes back to the question that even I have asked when I first started "What is the best polish for silver, what is the best....," and so on and so on. You have to try things out and see what you like. What you like and what works for your needs/wants might be totoally different than mine or anyone elses and that's ok. That's why I like detailing and using different things. I like choices.

I'm with you on the Poorboys. I definitely like the darker low gloss look. Thats just my pref. My main concern is the wheels though. They are stock Painted/ Clear Coat rims. I don't want to use anything that might stain or affect the clear coat. Thought about the Meguiars Wheel Brightener may p/u some tonight. thanks

Wheel brightener is some awesome stuff. Dilute it 4:1, spray it on, let it sit for 30-45 seconds per wheel (do one at a time), lightely scrub if you have to, rinse off, spray the wheels with some APC or car soap and rinse. If you have any defects in the clarcoat I would not use Wheel Brightener on the painted wheels. Could do damage.

Edit: I would also use a sealant on your wheels to protect but remember if you spray something on your wheels that is strong with the sealant on there you could strip the sealant and have to re-apply.

My only concern is that the SG I tried appears to have already stained them. Other than that I see no physical damage.

thnx

You might need to polish them after cleaning to clean the clearcoat on them. This will make things look alot better.
