Topping BFWD?

I've read about the swirl reducing/filling properties of Z5, but was wondering....



Once you've put several coats of Z2 on your car, what benefit would Z5 have if layered over top?
 
Z5 can fill in marring in the Z2 caused by washing, drying and just about everything you can think of. Also, some claim that it makes the paint look deeper and takes away the "plastic" look.
 
Z2 and Z5 are completely compatible and interchangable. You can switch from one to the other and back again as often as you like.

Yes I understand that, but what is the benefit to going from Z2 to Z5. I have seen the benefit of going from Z% to Z2, but what about vice versa?

Z5 over Z2 will remove ( fill ) any marring that occurred while washing, Qd'ing etc in the Z2 coat. Continue to cover the Z2 with Z5 until you are satisfied and than if desire apply some more Z2.

I am in the process of re-doing my Zaino for a car show this weekend. Nothing big, just a Honda/Acura meet.



I SMR'd (is that a word?) a few weeks ago and put on 2 coats of Z2.



This week I did so far:



2 coats of Z2 (Sunday and Monday)

Z6 between each coat

1 coat of Z5 - waiting for it to dry.



I plan to do for the rest of the week:



2 more coats of Z5 (Wednesday & Thursday)

1 coat of Z2 (Friday)

Z6 between each coat



BTW, I work from home so my car will not leave the garage all week. :D Ah the beauty of telecommuting.

I thought the sequence was z5 until all the swirls are gone and THEN Z2 to top it off (with z6 in between of course.) Have I been doing my SuperCrew all wrong? I can't imagine it shining any better than it does now!

Some people prefer the look of Z5 better than Z2. It really depends on your preference and car color. Z2 has higher optics (clarity) and shine than Z5, so most end up with Z2 as the final coat. Others like Z5 as the final coat, there's no rule that says you have to end up with Z2...
 
and mix the two together!!!



There is a small sub culture of Zainiacs who blend Z2 and Z5 together like a painter would.

So i finally bought some BFWD. I cant wait to use it after seeing the numerous of great reviews and pictures all across detailing forums. But heres my question. Can i top it with a another wax after it cures? Fpr example, collinite 845? Im asking this since i live in apartments and my car is literally outside 24/7. So id like to top it off with a wax. For how long do i have to let it cure before i can top it off with a wax?

You can absolutely top BFWD with a wax. I have topped BFWD with 845 with very good results, but 845 has some cleaners in it, and may actually remove the BFWD. Try Blackfire Midnight Sun. It looks great, especially on dark colored cars. Let is cure for about 12 hours before you top it with a wax.

:iagree:Wait 12+ hours. Once BFWD is applied you will not need to rush to put a wax on. If protection and durability is your concern as second coat of BFWD works fine too. For my own car, unless it doesn't move from the garage for a full day, I simply wait until the next time I wash to put next layer on to remove any dust or new contaminants. (I wash 2-3 times a week.)
 
I applied two layers of BFWD and followed the directions that states 8 hours between layers of BFWD and/or Midnight Sun.

Who changed the plan to 12 hours?

Good lord what are you driving through that you have to wash your car 2-3 times a week??
