Thoughts: $150,000 Detail Package ???

C1, Megs M105 (i assume), D300, Megs mf discs, makita, 3m tape... so far looks nothing special as far as tool or techniques. How long you think it takes, in days, for a 150k job?

If some rich fool is dumb enough to pay for the service than more power to him.

That's my nice reply btw....

The rich seem to be really wasteful with their money. I may be a beginner and not know a lot of things, but I know damn well that $150k is way too much to pay for detailing a car. IDC if he is spending 4 months on a car and tearing off every panel to clean every crevice, but there is always that one village idiot that has tons of money to spend.

From the article: "Next, he machine polishes every bit of bodywork taking out any defects, a laborious process that can take up to a month."

How many hours a day is this guy working?

I saw this from the article...

Once that’s done with, he will go over the bodywork with a special alcoholic cleaning agent to ensure there are no oily stains left on the paint

I didn't realize that IPA was "special"....

A fool and his money have parted it seems, and thought that Vegas call girls were - never mind, family forum and all.

For that price I hope it includes washes for life. What is the point if the owner hires some hack to wash it a month later and undo all that work.

What value would a car have to have to justify that expense? 1 million? 4 million? What value car would justify a $5000 detail? $100,000? At that threshold you are talking about 5%. At that ratio a car would have to be worth $3 million. What type of car could you increase the value of by $150,000 by detailing it? Any car worth that kind of money could very well lose value by erasing the history it carries.

Anyone else read the article in the July issue of Automobile Magazine?

I want to see one of his write ups. I'll volunteer to go document the process and results. I'll only charge $15,000 to do it.

Please tell me that is satire.

I saw these same images of him detailing a f40 on luxury4play iirc. It was a nice job but nothing overly crazy.

No amount of detailing is worth this much. No matter the car or how much time you spend working on it. There is only so much you can do (detailing wise). But hey, if this guy can pony up people to fork over this much loot, more power to him.

I'm a beginner, but if someone wants to pay me $150k for a detailing job, I will spend ALL YEAR detailing 1 car :)

3x 150k = 450k/year and he still works ?

my saying is "show me the money"...not stories.. i forgot is late and is a good bed time story :))

Remember rich people have things and are wasteful and wealthy people have investments and are smart with their money.

Rich being money was inherited or won: Wealthy being it was worked in order to get.

I think this is more about extremely wealthy people being able to talk up how they paid 150k for a detail like it was a cup of coffee than it is having a clean car. Most of the people on this forum could spend a day or two for several hundred dollars and I doubt the difference in results would be life changing.

Most well to do are not wasteful with their money or they wouldn't have become wealthy. The potential is greater when it is inherited and of course many other factors.

Btw, I am willing to offer the same service :D for 149K hehehe

Any flat rate mechanics here? It's like typing "repaired open in electrical circuit" when you've changed a fuse.
