This is... Awful. Horrendous. BAD!

My parents asked me to prep their older 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee to sell. Good quality private party price is $2,500. They are hoping to get $2,000 for it. I told them to be lucky if they get $1,000.

It is a mess.

There is clear coat failure.

The wiper arms need repaired.(Do not apply enough pressure to actually wipe.)

Wind shield glass needs replaced.

Front drive shaft needs rebuilt.

...It gets worse. I clean this one around six months ago. They have let my brother borrow it for about a month. Some of this I am not sure I can handle.

Pretty bad, but I think its worth more then $1000 considering my uncle just sold a 1994 Cherokee that was used on the farm with 330,000 miles, rust on the rockers and rear hatch for $1500 and the interior was worse.

But its a shame people can do that to a car after its detailed.

Is there something wrong with your brother, that makes him unable to clean it and live like a slob? Also does he just kick the door open everytime he opens it? Looks like it from the amount of shoe scuffs on the door.

He does not kick the door, but is simply careless taking his feet out. I will note he is tall though. He even returns it with an empty tank.

This does not include the rear left door that he caved in with a kick, because he was angry about some thing else, then attempted to repair.

Cash for Clunkers buddy ... I have an older car that is in great shape, but parts are most likely going to increase in price because of this bill and the fact that is already 11 years old and it doesn't share a lot of parts with other GM cars. I really can't afford a new car ... It would be great if this bill applied to new or used cars that have less than 25k miles and 3 years old.

That is going to be a $500 detailing job no joke

All free to my parents!

They had considered the cash to clunkers programs, but they are not interested in a new car.

This is what happened on a one mile drive to work. The center "Vehicle Information Center" console screamed to life to get my attention as it scrolled through messages.

"0 miles left to service"

"PERFORM SERVICE"

"SERVICE 4WD SWITCH" <-- Old message. Basically says the switch that senses 4WD is active went bad. Except for the part where the vehicle is always in 4WD.

"COOLANT LEVEL LOW" <-- O_O That is new! It did not quite like me forcing it along to work either.

I believe it is at the BURN IT WITH FIRE stage.

My friend just traded in an old Jimmy or some **** truck that was WORSE than that and got 4,500 for it. It barely ran, the engine was on the verge of dying, he got a lot of money from that program.

Make your brother clean the car to teach him a lesson then take it down to the car eater at the junkyard. or just part out if the motor and trans and other parts are good you can make more money selling parts than selling the whole car.just have people come with tools to remove what they want.

or try a Jeep forum for that model and list a part out. You'll have to remove parts and ship, but you'll reach more people than a local ad. I've usually had good luck selling things on forums.

Yeah, I'm sure Alexia or her parents want to be stripping the Jeep down and parting it out over the internet--would you guys get real??

They would let me manage it if that was the case. I regularly seller over on JeepForum.com. I have extensive experiencing stripping Jeeps. :D

The mechanics of the vehicles are all great except for the drive shaft. Once that is fixed it will make a great vehicle for some one.

The driver's door looks much better. I will be stripping the roof rack down tonight to begin repainting. Then I will rebuild the drive shaft during the drying times.

I am spending about two hours a day working on it. A total of about six hours so far. What I have "finished" is one wash, most panels clay barred, and cleaning the front interior area.

A few notes.

The carpets are mostly coming clean. There are some spots that are soiled enough to probably require steam cleaning.

This is odd, but I found that the plastic panels are opaque white plastic with tan paint over top. The panels could be repainted where the scuff marks tore into them.

Those leather seats are very dirty. I believe the seats would have to be redyed to be the proper color again.

Make sure to post some pictures, when you are done. Also give your brother a brain duster for creating so much work for you.
