The worst hologams EVER!

I think they should have delivered it to him around midnight! That was some aweful swirls. I cant believe how bad that was. Unbelievable recovery Joe. Awesome work. Yeah his buddies will probaby start coming by to see you.

Holy COW...I not all that experienced with a rotary and I think I could have done a better job than that...

Awesome job. I think this thread should be sticky'd. "Improper Use of a Rotary".

I'm really sorry but I could not help but to laugh at those holograms. What would make him think a 4k mile truck would need a buff? Anyway your work and paticents is really impressive on a rather overwealming job!

Wow, those befores are awesome, I love them! I should print them off and keep them at work for the hacks I work with...so I can show them what using a cutting pad all the time does!

You are the man!

Looks like they were making some cool designs with the rotary :).

Glad to see it looking like glass.

wow looks awesome. and the title is right on the money, worst halograms ever seen. It seems like i am always the guy who has to fix previous mess ups. it was just the other day when i had to totally fix a black 02 tundra. the kids dad paid 300 bones for a full detail(supposedly full polish, wax seal, the works) he drove off the lot feeling pretty good about it until a few days later when the wax started to fade. Come to find out, they never touched it with a buffer or polish. they didnt even clean the inside of the windows. ha. all they accomplished was lathering the entire interior with gooey armor all. i begged his dad to let me try to get his money back. i wanted to get in someones face for making all other detailers look bad! it only takes one bad experience for someone to totally distrust all detailers forever. he insisted that we not make a scene, but it still took me 2 weeks to convince him to allow me to work my magic. he finally gave in when i offered a full detail for 150. so eventually, it came out perfect like i expected and still, 3 months later, the truck is swirl free and no halograms. i turned his opinion around and have done his king ranch and solstice regularly since. so the moral of the story is, i don't like to be part of a negative steriotype that is put forth by drive throughs and red arrows, and these sporatic "professional" "detailing" shops that pop up.

Great work. I read the title and thought to myself how can they be that bad, my god!! I can't imagine how happy the owner must have been. I think you have a customer for life, and many of his friends...

WOW, that was quite the pattern they had going on with the up and down. That was pretty bad, but you did an outstanding job on it.

I have an Escalade myself also and the paint is very soft. The best finish polish that I have gotten 100% results with is 3M Ultrafina on a blue pad. It was actually the only finish polish that worked on mine.

Thak you all, I appreciate it!

silverlexus, I have no idea which shop did it, but he said it was in the "hood" and that they took about 1.5 hours from start to finish. I can't even properly wash a vehicle of that size in 1.5 hours!

Unfortunately, this gentleman is from Atlanta and will not be coming back to Memphis. At least he was able to get his trcuk back while he was here. :D

rydawg, I have played around with the Ultrafina and a black LC CCS pad and could not get it to work right. I guess it's much better with the blue? I will give it a try. I think that my problem was not enough product and working it too long. It seems that the UF SE works best if you keep a wet edge and use a little more product than normal. What RPM with the blue pad? I was using 1400 or so. Any other tips are certainly welcome.

I mainly use it on a blue pad.

I put a good stripe around the edge of the pad to load the pad properly. I then work it in slowly for 30 seconds just to reduce some spatter and then crank it up to 1500-1800 and use medium pressure and work it into the panel for a couple of minutes. I will then back off on the pressure and just let the pad glide over the surface to highly polish the surface into an absolute perfect finish.

This is a 2 cycle finish polish system that can be done in one session. The advantage of using the blue pad, it is a non mechanical pad and will not induce marring at all. You will get some oily spatter, but it is normal.

I have tried this on the most finicky paints and it has worked 100%.

Amazing save! Truly amazing. :bow If I owned that truck I'd make sure to tell the world what shop hacked it up like that.

I am sure the owner of the Denali learned a lesson here...

"the bitterness of a poor quality detailing job remains long after the sweetness of a low price"... :hairpull :wall

This holds true for 'most everything.
