The worst hologams EVER!

EBPcivicsi

GOT PREP?
This is a 2008 DENALI with about 4K on the clockcustomer had it “buffed in Atlanta($69-LOL). The shop delivered the car in the shade, the customer later saw the holograms under the Wal-Mart parking lot lighting. When he returned to the shop the next day, they denied any wrong doing (LOL).

This gentleman tried four other shops in townno one would touch it.

This correction took 14 hours on the paint aloneit was quite a challenge!

I used 3M SRC polish with a yellow Meguiars polishing pad @1700 RPM’s (this paint is soft!)

PO160FF via rotary and black CCS pad @1400 RPM’s

Sealed with opti-seal

These are the most satisfying recoveries for me, the customer thought that he was going to have to repaint the truck—he wanted to hug me when he picked it up!

I should also add that the time might seem a bit off because a two-step process shouldn't take that long. The problem was that I had to *really* focus my efforts and use the least aggressive product as the paint was *thin*! I also had to use a variety of spot pads to buff smaller areas such as the roof, door pilars, etc.

I am sure the owner of the Denali learned a lesson here...

"the bitterness of a poor quality detailing job remains long after the sweetness of a low price"... :hairpull :wall

Nice turnaround! :2thumbs:

Holy S*** what a hell of a recovery...that so called detail shop should be prosecuted. great work I am sure the owner was extremely happy

Great job!! I bought a black 2007 LaCrosse with 9K miles on it and it looked the same as that Denali. I got a great deal for that reason. I have worked on it a bit, but come spring it will get the full monty. Hope I can do half the job you did!

And you NAILED it! Great work as always!! :2thumbs:

That is how black's supposed to look :woot2:

Since the paint is thin, hopefully the gentleman knows how to wash his truck (to not introduce a bunch of swirl marks). He probably does not have that much clear left after those $69 hackers were done with it.

Actually it looked under the halogens like the standard dealer or tunnel wash swirling, and that the holograms (as seen in the sun) were the other shop's feeble attempt at removing them. I would speculate that the real clear removal was to take out those swirls under the hologramming.
