The "special" clients...

Detailing Rottweiler
Heck...they're all special...but there are always a few you go above and beyond for.

Today's adventure got me thinking about this....

Last Saturday and this Saturday I worked despite pouring rain and cold temps. Both times for monthly regular clients that I have been with for at least 3-4 years. Not many folks would pay to have their vehicles detailed as the rain bounces off their windows...but some do. Some do just because you've taken care of them for years...some do because they love the way their car looks...and some (more often than not) do because they appreciate you and your business!!! Enough so that they'll get their car detailed in the rain!!

Detailing is a service oriented business. Yes, you do have to be able to detail a car well but more often than not you have to make a client FEEL GOOD about spending money on a frivolous expense. That is the key to detailing for a living...SERVICE, SERVICE and SERVICE. In the end...the more you sell yourself...the better you will do.

Here is my client's '05 Maserati that I worked on today. I've taken care of his cars since '03. When I knocked on the door this morning all he said to me was "I'm sorry you have to wash the car in the rain"....never once thinking about cancelling. My way of saying thank you is treating his leather and sealing his rims every detail without even mentioning it or charging for it.

Take care of those that take care of you!!!

Mike

Love the story and the car. Look at the Brake Calipers (rotor)!!! Do you ever get complaints for using acid based wheel cleaner?

That's just flash rust, isn't it? It usually comes off after a drive. The brake pads knock it off.

Amen, Mike. I don't detail professionally, but I have had many "service" related jobs. Sometimes it's what you can bring to the table that goes beyond normal that makes the difference and establishes your name in your sector. I was a computer technician and the thing that made me stand out was throwing in a lot of "freebies" and my wililngness to take tech support calls that went on for hours free of charge. I have a card next to my monitor that I got from an elderly woman a few years ago. I spent two hours on the phone with her walking her through downloading and installing printer drivers. She lived about 50 miles from our shop and we were in the middle of a terrible storm. Her family had just emailed her pictures of her new granddaughter and she really wanted to print them. I don't think she ever came to our shop herself, but I know of at least four or five clients that she referred to us. It was well worth it. To me, it's the way business should be done. Your customers will appreciate you a lot more when they realize that you not only appreciate their business, but you cherish it.

BTW, that's an amazing looking Mas. Give it a light pat on it's curvy Italian butt for me the next time you're there. ;)

Ever thought of QEW? :P

Seriously, nice work. It's always good when customers treat you well, although working on a full stomach isn't always the best feeling. :)

No.

I see rotors do that with just soap and water.

I use only soap & water on my wheels and I see the exact results.

Mike, as always, great work! Looks amazing! :2thumbs:

I agree with you 100% Mike, and I also have a few customers like that. Sure doesn't hurt a bit to spend another 10 minutes to do a few small extras for people who do you right.
