The "Really ?!?!?!?!" Thread

I don't mind tipping for good service but what kills me is all the tip jars I see everywhere. Grabbing a donut and shoving it in a bag is not service. I took the kids to a self serve yogurt shop where you get your cup yourself, dispense your yogurt yourself, put the toppings on yourself, place the cup on the scale by the register yourself, (they charge by weight) and pay the cashier. The only thing the cashier does is read the price on the screen and take your money. AND THERE WAS A D*** TIP JAR!!!!!
Agree !!!

I just got back from LA. I was out there for a some R and R and to vist my son who is at UCLA for the Summer.

We went to a restaurant in LA, I pull up in my rental car and give the Valet the keys just like normal. He gives me a claim check and we go into the place to eat.

I come out, give him my ticket , he gets the car, I let my wife in, walk around give the valet 2 bucks and get in and start to drive away. The valet starts patting the side of my car as I drive away. I though I must have run over his foot. He says you only gave me 2 dollars? I said that a good tip in NY. He says yes its a good tip but the valet parking it 12 dollars? Dam.... where I live valet parking is free and you just tip the guy. There are empty meters that don't need to be paid after 9PM empty all over the street. I was not sure if I was being F'd with so I put the car in park and ask for my ticket stub. Says nothing about 12 bucks for parking and there is no sign. He shows me a clip board that was on his podium not visible unless you look on the flat surface that says parking 12 dollars 2 hours. I go into restaurant and ask hostess if there is a charge for valet parking. My wife is embarrassed at this point but I don't like getting taken. You guessed it-its 12 bucks to park and $15 over 2 hours. Paid guy and parked in meters outside of LA's best restaurants the rest of the vacation. Just bothers me to get that extra charge for nothing.

Couldn't agree more. Take out places that have a tip line on the CC print out drive me nuts too. I'm suppose to tip you for handing me a box of food I ordered online/didn't even speak to you about?

I just tell them this is for the Chef!

I get everything cooked just the way I want ;)

I was about to BBQ a whole Filet Mignon (the coals were almost ready) when suddenly all 4 legs gave out like the WTC on my Webber Charcoal BBQ (Really ?!?!?!?!). Somehow I managed not to get burned durring the collapse and restabilized the BBQ on the ground using some bricks to support it.

The BBQ was still a success!

Came home and found this dude in the garage eyeing up my detailing stash.

Looks like a dung beetle.

I am it is a dung beetle. I had never seen one myself. There are lots of things in the woods (bears, bobcat, fox, a few deer) that our trail camera captures along with apparently trespassers who took the SD card out of the trail camera.

PHOENIX (Reuters) – A bounty hunter was arrested after gathering a posse and mistakenly trying to raid the home of Phoenix’s chief of police, officials said on Wednesday.

Brent Farley, 43, and 10 others surrounded Chief Joseph Yahner’s home around 10 p.m. local time on Tuesday, thinking they were cornering an Oklahoma fugitive wanted on a drug charge, the department said in a statement.

Police said the bounty hunters were told they had the wrong address and were asked to leave numerous times.

The department said Farley, who confronted the chief after banging on the door and demanding he come outside, was carrying a handgun at the time, as were several others.

A video of the incident provided by police showed Chief Yahner, clad only in his underwear, stepping outside his home with a baton in his hand and approaching the bounty hunters. Phoenix police spokesman Trent Crump said there was no physical altercation.

Crump said eight of the individuals were men and the three others were women, including a relative of one of the men who was riding along and an 11-year-old girl who was wearing a toy gun belt.

The bondsmen were working on behalf of two bond recovery companies, NorthStar Fugitive Recovery and Delta One Tactical Recovery, police said, and appeared to have acted on an unconfirmed tip on the suspect’s location from social media.

Farley was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. Crump said additional charges against the 10 others were possible as well as for Farley, who is a felon.

The recovery firms could not be immediately reached for comment. But a posting by NorthStar on its Facebook account earlier on Tuesday asked for tips as to the location of the fugitive, a black man. Yahner is white.
