The official motorcycle thread, post your pics!

Something that I don't think gets enough discussion or attention is gear. Even being from Illinois, a state that doesn't have helmet laws, I won't ride without one anymore. I'm also a firm believer in good jackets, gloves, etc. Road rash isn't something I want to fool around with.

Here's my HJC helmet, Joe Rocket jacket & gloves, Icon riding jeans, and steel toe boots. I have a pair of Sidi boots, but they are so uncomfortable that I can't ride with them.

Great point. I grew up in Chicago and we never wore helmets (let alone any protective gear). When I first moved to Florida they had a helmet law (which I was against at first) but soon came to respect the law.

As I grew a little older I started wearing a textile jacket, gloves, and ICON jeans, even in the humid Florida summers (would never ride with out them). Too many things can happen!

Its like adding another 15 degrees to yourself during the summer, but I don't mind. Fooling around in traffic gets really hot, but once your out of town and up to highway speeds its not bad at all. I don't wanna be doing 65mph and know that if I fall, there's a 100% chance Im gonna hurt really bad.

this is my 2005 harley super glide. i ride with the blue knights lemc and have this set up as an honor guard bike for military or police funerals, parades, escorts, etc. harley stopped making their dyna defender police bike in 2004, so i took a little license to set up up mine.

Nice jeans!! Go to Europe, to see someone with full leathers on is an everyday occurrence.

Thanks :) They are sooo comfortable while riding. The knees and crotch area stretch, which is a really great design. Padding where it count, stretches where it needs to. Great jeans :rockon
I would love to have a full set of leathers. Maybe one day..

As you can see from the picture I was into safety gear. I would not get on the bike without full leathers, but I was riding a bike that would do 100 in 1st (and often did). I crashed the R1 and broke a few things but didn't have any road rash. Without the leathers it would have been a real mess.

I've never ridden but have been thinking about getting an old bike this summer. Something cheap... REALLY cheap. I was thinking 70's era Honda. Simply a basic cruiser bike that I can tinker with more than actually ride.

Glad to see some of you guys in protective gear.

Leather ,helmet with chin gaurd and reflective jackets are a must.

It doesnt matter how great of a driver you are , all it takes is one person not paying attention to crash into you or pull out in front of you to kill or mame you.

Sorry dont mean to be a downer but I used to ride years ago and people pulled out in front of me often .People just dont see you on a motorcycle!

When I started wearing a bright orange reflective vest it stopped happening! Really works and may save your life!

Be safe and enjoy riding !! :bigups

I've rebuilt several CB450's and CB550's. Really easy bikes to work on and fun little cruisers. Not fast but with enough RPM and you can get the front wheel up. :D
