The Edge system cost.

If you want to buy velcro pads be my guest. But IMO you're buying the entry level model when you could have the deluxe edition. As I've already said, your completely ignoring the differences between the two types of pads and shopping solely based on price. Use Edge 2000 pads once and you'll never go back to velcro pads.

Enough already, we get it. :wall :nomore:

I did. I have just as much range with CCS pads.

There's always the exception to the rule. :chuckle: Seriously though, if there was one product that was perfect for everyone then there would be a lot of companies out of business.

So true Mike. *I* found that the adapter is the biggest issue for me. My fingers hurt like hell after changing a few pads. The pain, while not constant, was noticeable when I did something involving the finger tips over the next couple days. I'm honestly not looking forward to the next time I have to use them again which is soon.

well this thread kind of back fired on the OP, lol.

I too have the Edge system and like it. I've never used LC, but I may give them a shot in the future. I really like my Edge kit (all 5 pads, 2 MF's, adapter, XMT pad cleaner and conditioner for $100).

Make sure you press the center button down on the adapter when taking off and putting on pads.

How did you hurt your fingers taking off the pads? Mine pop right off.

I have heard some people comment that their adapter gets very hot after polishing. They have said it was so hot that they could not change pads without hurting their fingers. Is this what you're experiencing? I haven't had this happen myself. Mine gets warm, but definitely not hot.

Pushing the button to remove the pads. I have to put the buffer down and use both thumbs. It's not the single adapter in particular as I've used more than one and PC/rotary. I do have soft hands.:o

Interesting comments. I have read, though not often, posts indicating troubles with the adapter and changing pads. So unless it was your post :grinno: , you're not the only one experiencing this issue.

I am considering the Edge system for my rotary specifically for the pad centering factor. I seriously doubt the pads are any better than the pads that I currently use, including Meguiars, LC and the new LC CCS, and Propel which I've used to good effect for years now without issue. At this point I don't see much benefit in the two-in-one pad. I have a hard time envisioning having a dirty pad staring back at me. :lol

i had a lot of issues removing the pads. the adapter got hot and nearly burned me, th ebutton was super hard to push, i just had so much trouble and told this to Aaron. through Pm's he asked me to call him and i did....he basically walked me through the way the system is supposed to work and i made a thread about it on the AG forums. basically if your having trouble removing pads, your doing it improperly. try this: place your machine with the adapter installed already on a flat surface like your floor. take a pad and align the hexes, with equal pressure on both sides simply push the pad onto the adapter. now pick up the machine, and you can wrap your fingers around the adapter on the back side of the pad, using equal pressure just push a little bit and it pops off....there is really no need for the button, i never use it anymore but some people find it easier....if you use the button only press lightly, dont try to compress it! if you still have an issue with it, please call aaron and he can walk you through it. when used properly, its a much easier system to use.

dont forget that backing plates break down over time. the adapter is gauranteed for LIFE to never break down or anything. so thats one purchase of 18 bucks, instead of how many backing plates? and most of the other advantages of edge pads have been listed so ill leave it at that

This is a non issue for me as I have been using the same rotary backing plates for 10 years in one case and about 4 in the other. Neither has failed or is showing any signs of failure. I have had one of Meg's BP's stop holding on to pads on the PC but it didn't fail and cause any damage at all. The BP that I got from Excel still holds just like the day I got it and hasn't lost any of it's integrity.

Looks like I'm going to have to pull the trigger on the Edge system for my Cyclo....

:)

I was very skeptical to try the edge system. But after doing so on one of our PC's I will now change over at least one of the Cyclos.

Aye, I think the Edge design is beautiful, but there is nothing like the CCS design with the engraved sections in the foam.

"but there is nothing like the CCS design with the engraved sections in the foam" I saw some 3M pads in the book last time I was at Carquest getting some supplies that looked a lot like the CCS design. Now, I didn't see them in person and since I wasn't in the market for any, I didn't bother the CarQuest guy to go get them from the back - just so I could see them. And I've never used any 3M products nor do I own any stock - so don't get the wrong idea.

I couldn't care less about the "engraved sections in the foam" but how the pad performs and that the backing plate that I already have still works. I responded to the poster that said if I tried the E2K pads that I wouldn't go back to traditional. Well, I did and I went back. The size of the CCS pads, the selection of pads and how well they work with the rotary polisher are my reasons for picking them.

FWIW, I haven't had any issues in a long time with the backing on conventional pads and once I switched to the 6" PC backing plate excel sells, no problems with backing plates wearing out either.

However, if the Edge system perfectly centers the pads, reduces vibration and gives you both sides of the pad to work with, it seems to me it is worth trying if you want to spend the money on the system.

I just went to my body shop supply store and puchased the Presta Buffing pads with the quick change adapter for my rotory, which is the Edge system made by Edge for Presta. I purchased the yellow double sided wool pad and the Blue foam double sided pad. I will use them next week and give a review.

Whoops, personally have read alot of good input so I got mixed up with the CCS Pockets. Can't wait to use them via Rotary.

I have never had a problem with the cost of the EDGE pads. You get 2 in 1 and they center up and I never have to replace my backing plate. I have some pads that are 5-6 months old and get washed in the machine every other night.

They are simply some of the highest quality pads out there.
