i had a lot of issues removing the pads. the adapter got hot and nearly burned me, th ebutton was super hard to push, i just had so much trouble and told this to Aaron. through Pm's he asked me to call him and i did....he basically walked me through the way the system is supposed to work and i made a thread about it on the AG forums. basically if your having trouble removing pads, your doing it improperly. try this: place your machine with the adapter installed already on a flat surface like your floor. take a pad and align the hexes, with equal pressure on both sides simply push the pad onto the adapter. now pick up the machine, and you can wrap your fingers around the adapter on the back side of the pad, using equal pressure just push a little bit and it pops off....there is really no need for the button, i never use it anymore but some people find it easier....if you use the button only press lightly, dont try to compress it! if you still have an issue with it, please call aaron and he can walk you through it. when used properly, its a much easier system to use.
dont forget that backing plates break down over time. the adapter is gauranteed for LIFE to never break down or anything. so thats one purchase of 18 bucks, instead of how many backing plates? and most of the other advantages of edge pads have been listed so ill leave it at that
