The calm before the storm...

Dwayne & Fuzz - Hope you two will keep safe and reasonably dry. Please let us know when you are out of harm's way (and the electricity comes back on). We will be worried until we hear from you. <Do I hear a "Yes, Mom!"?>

And Woob is saying "Let us know when you are out of harm's way (and the electricity comes back on). We will be worried until you place more things on sale!"

Looks like Dwayne and The Fuzz have left the board and gone underground for a while.
Sounds like a good idea to me.

Yep, they just upgraded the storm to a Category 4........................ not good! :(

Gary Jones?

Can't you just imagine what must be going through Gary's mind right now?
Dwayne and The Fuzz act like it's just another summer day in Florida.
Gary is probably hanging on to a light pole for all he is worth somewhere around Bradenton.

Yep, it's certainly not a very good "house warming" gift!

Dwayne and Fuzz better be careful............. a Cat 4 is nothing to mess around with! :(

All of you down in Florida, all of us up here in North Carolina are thinking about all of you and we all will be:kneel for you . As we brace for this storm that is heading right for us. Be Careful

Looks like Dwayne may have dogged the bullet on this one! Hope everyone else is OK?

Yep, we dodge a major bullet. The storm came on land about 75 miles south of us which gave us an "offshore" wind and put us on the north and west side of the eye of the storm which is the side that you want to be on in a coastal community. It pushes the gulf water away from shore on that side of the storm.

Had the storm hit to the north of us it would have brought a 10-15 storm surge with 145 mph sustained onshore winds.

Ft. Meyers, Punta Gorda and Pt. Charlotte all took a direct hit just 75-80 miles south of where I live. The storm has devastated these cities and the death toll is rising fast.
On the news they showed the roof being ripped off of the Ft. Meyers post office and an Ace Hardware Store leveled down to the ground.

The storm went acrosss Florida and went right across Arcadia which is a small inland town just east of Sarasota. It pretty much destroyed Arcadia. It even ripped the roof off of a hurricane shelter that had over 1200 people inside. Fortunately, no one inside was seriously injured.

As close as all this devastation was and as bad as those sattelite and radar pictures looked. It was just a rainy a breezy tropical day in Sarasota. Very few small branches and leaves down and a minor inconvenience that could have been total devastation.

When hurricanes get that strong they also get tight and very organized, like a buzzsaw.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and thinking about us while we took shelter. Please also keep praying for those who were truely impacted by this storm.

Dwayne

Glad you're alright Dwayne, this is all very scary stuff. Nature's not one to mess with :wait

Dwayne,

Again, it's good to see that you are safe and sound. I hope everybody else at PAC weathered the storm. If that storm would have hit where they were first predicting, you might be having a very, very bad day.

Sure feel sorry for all the folks to the south, and west of you.............. incredible damage, and loss of life. :(
