The Best Car Wash Concentrate

After having used dozens of shampoos, I would say that my very favorite washes are Zaino Z7 and Mothers Cali Gold.

Zaino Bros. Z7 is definitely the best mail order shampoo.

MOTHERS California Gold is still the king of the OTC products, and better than almost any high priced boutique washes.

Top "runner-ups" are Duragloss and Eagle One, due to price, performance and availability.

The best known , or should I say most infamous car wash is Dawn detergent :o

Most ( this may not include the less expensive brands) car wash concentrates use Synthetic Soap:

Before the advent of synthetic cleaners animal fats were used to make soap by hydrolysing with a saponifier (a high pH alkali) producing soap. In order to be able to control and manipulate the characteristics of cleaners (soaps and detergents) chemists formulated synthetic cleaners with a homogeneous blend of micelle structures, which become super-active when processed together. Cleaning solutions no longer have to rely upon soap, harsh detergents, phosphates, nitrates, caustics, toxic organics, enzymes or volatile organic compounds (VOCâ€â„¢s) for their cleaning abilities.

Meg's Gold Class has been my go to for a couple of years since I joined these forums. I'm still using it to good effect, although I am receptive to trying other stuff, specially stuff that smells good.

What can I say? I'm an odor freak too! :o

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Poorboy's Car Wash (I haven't tried it yet).

For me it's also Z7.

1) Autoglym Gloss Enhancing Shampoo...low suds, cleans better than any other OTC, and uses glossing agents unlike anything I've seen. I always get asked if I waxed it as well as washing.

2) Mothers Cal Gold car shampoo.

It contains a great 'lubricant' doesn't leave an oil/wax film and washes dirt/grime without removing (too much) wax, bonus available in gallon container and a smaller bottle with a measure on the side. Last but not least Accumulator recommended :xyxthumbs

Between, Meguirs Gold Class, Nxt, Mother's Gold or any other locally available Car wash Concentrate,

Which one contains the best lubricant?

The Griot's wash is excellent. I can't imagine anyone not liking it. It's that good.

It used to be priced at $29 a gallon which is a fabulous deal...then it gained some popularity. :(

Well, it *won't* be the Gold Class ;) One wash and I gave it away to somebody who doesn't worry about marring.

Meguiars GC was a favourite of mine for a while, then I found Sonax Gloss Shampoo.

Now thats running dry, I've just bought a bottle of P21s to try out.

I used Sonax at the weekend and simply by just washing, the car looked as if a fresh coat of carnauba had been applied - helped I'm sure by the layers of EX-P applied the week before.

Germany seems to be where it's at

Eagle One and Meguiar's Gold Class. Both can be found locally for a good price. I also find both work well on carnauba finishes and leave a "glow" when I am done.

In that case you might really like Dr Wack shampoo, the original version of P21S. The only problem is I do not know if Iauto are still trading. Wacks is still my favourite shampoo and it lasts a long time

Whoa! Was the car very dirty? I use Z7 reguarly on the cars I care about and use GC on the other cars. Never thought it would help marring occur unless the car is more dirty.
