The Age Old Bug Problem . . .

Now I am all too familiar with the nasty bugs of the DelMarVa area. They are bad (but not as bad as those nasty bird like bugs in Florida), and make a serious mess on your car.

Now, I would not have to normally deal with this problem (bugs that is), but I drive to the ocean (Delaware) each weekend, which destroys any detailing that I did the week (or days) prior to the trip.

I do not have problems cleaning bugs off of the car, but for some reason the bugs are extremely difficult to remove off of my windshield.

I have found the only way to get all of the bugs (and their insides) off of the car, is to use rubbing alcohol, and some serious elbow grease. It takes a bit of time to get it all the way off of my windshield.

Do any of you have any suggestions as to what I could do to get the bugs off easier? Is there anything that I can put into my windshield cleaner that would "boost" it? I have tried the PS21 Windshield Washer Boot, and it does nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards.

if rubbing EtoH works manually why not add it to your winshield wiper fluid. (Note, I have no idea how this will affect your hose and noseles though)

You could also try vinigar since that gets water spots out. Again, same note as above.

You could also clay your windshield regularly, but that's a lot of claying

Have you tried any coatings on your windshield? ie RainX, Z2 or similar?

The trouble with additives like vinegar or alcohol is that runoff will also take your wax off.
