I've heard of people using Quick Detailers instead of water to dampen applicators for applying Klasse AIO. It's in the CMA applicaiton guide for Klasse. This is supposed to make it easier to smooth Klasse over the paint.

Would any of the components inside of a Quick Detailer (eg silicone) interefere with the curing/crosslinking of Klasse?
 
I've never seen a reasonable explanation for using QD to "apply" Klasse. I have heard of it being used to aid removal, which certainly doesnt hurt the bonding process.
 
Only the carnuba QDs are a factor here. I used Eagle 1 the first time I applied my AIO and Sg.



For applying I noticed it help spread it further.



I used it for SG the first time, but am looking forward to trying it without the next time. I recently applied SG over BF, it went on very nicely and was a breeze coming off (no QD). Different than over AIO.
 
A slightly moistened applicator (with water) is certainly fine. A very lightly sprayed applicator (with EO's quick detailer, or Final Inspection) is also ok. But why bother using a quick detailer when you can just use good old H2O.
 
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to be using water to dampen the applicator, but was curious whether the use of Quick Detailer to dampen the applicator pad was a safe practice or not. It makes sense that the lubrication provided by the quick detailers would make wiping on the Klasse easier.
 
No problem. Just make sure not to use a quick detailer that has carnauba in it. It's best to play it safe that way as carnauba may hinder the bonding ability of Klasse. Laters
 
Tar removal? My wife has a White MDX. I gave her car some attention yesterday. There were some large "Tar" spots on the lower half of the car and inside the wheel barrels. i was able to address the paint with the TW bug and tar rempver I have from a very long time ago, but the stuff in the barrels (much heavier) was lauging at it. i can pick off the "sones" of tar/asphalt with my fingers but its going to take forever and I am afraid of lifting the CC.

Can someone reccommend a good (safe) tar remover. I also tried PB Bug squash with no luck either.

i donno for tar but for bugs i use the yellow bug and tar sponge and apc+ :) works like a charm

Another way is WD-40. IT will help dissolve the tar, but you will need to wash the area well afterwards. Gasoline will also do the trick, but your LSP (if you had any) will be gone. Again, wash well afterward

Might give the stones product a try. I love their Glass Cleaner. I have looked for Tardis, I think it european because I have never seen it on any US sites.

WD-40 Really....Got to give it a try. How long do you let it dwell?

Thanks but I will pass on the Gass and Kerosene. Just a bit to much of a paint to deal with and store.
 
I read recently that Colli 845 would remove tar as well. I tried it on some tar specks inside a wheel barrel, which I'd already cleaned with Brown Royal. Just dabbed a bit on, waited a few seconds and wiped it right off. Kinda cost effective I guess, for the tiny amount of 845 used, especially considering I paid $10 for 3M Adhesive Remover online. :cursing:

FWIW, I haven't tried it on paint yet, and I'm sure the wheel cleaner may have softened it up a bit, but it was interesting nonetheless.
 
Have used the Stoners Tarminator for about a year now, Really does a fine job with out any side effects, so far seems to be a very reliable product with very good results!!! +1 for Tarminator:2 cents:
 
I've used WD-40 with good results and I also use Prep-All that I got from AutoZone. Just wipe down the wheel well, let it sit and wipe again. It sometimes requires a couple more wipe-downs for tar that's been there for a while.
