Super Bowl Contest...

Well, used Z with ZFX this week. Overall, it was VERY easy to apply three coats. I have a new black car that had some swirls, so I used three coats of Z5. I'll be darned if it didn't actually make a difference with the swirls! I wasn't expecting much. As far as the shine goes...very nice, but I'm reserving judgement until I put the 3 coats of Z2 on today.

Two questions...I didn't Z6 between coats. Only after the third coat. Is this a big problem? Should I Z6 between the coats today?

After I get the Z2 on today, I'll have 3 coats. When do you know you need to apply more? Simply by the look?

BTW...Thanks to the advice here, I think I did pretty well with making the coats THIN!! I was able to do all three coats with 2 oz's and had maybe .25 to .5 oz's left. Thanks !

Absolutely use the Z-6 between coats. It will not only make application of the next coat of Z-2/5 easier, it will enhance the gloss. I think most people would agree that about 5-6 coats of Z will give optimum results, although I know guys that have 30-100 coats. It's so easy to use and addicting that lots of people go the extra coats as a form of recreation/relaxation!

I always put a fresh coat of Z6 just prior to any layer of Z2 or Z5. FOr your first 3 layers you may have some bonding issues but with the ZFX you may not.

Wait and see what others say. A lot more have used ZFX and will probably give you some more answers.

Good Luck and Happy Shines!

Yes apply Z6 between every coat and also apply Z6 to the cotton applicator (a few sprays) or whatever you are using to apply the zaino. Some people like to cut the Z6 with a 50/50 mix of Distilled water for after wash use. I would use it full strength between coats of Z2/Z5.

Depending on the vechicle you are appling Zaino to, I still think that you can go thinner. I was able to get 6 coats (3 on each car) from 1 oz of Z2 with ZFX. The cars where a 01 Z06 and a 94 540. I also have done 3 coats each on a Caddy Sedan DeVille and a SLK230 with 1 oz.

Post some pics if you can after you are done.

Here are the steps that I use:

1.Wash with dawn (blue)

2.Clay Yes even if new car. use capful of Z7 with 12 oz of water as lube for clay

2.Wash w/ Z7, dry car.

3.Mix 1 oz (Half of the mixing bottle) of Z2 with ZFX.

4.Spray cotton applicator with a little Z6. Put small amount of Z2 on CA (cotton applicator) size of a dime and rub it into the CA.

5.Start applying it to surface. Put it on very thin! by the time you get done putting it on the entire car, the starting point will be dry.

6.Remove with 100% cotton (made in USA) towels. It comes off easy doesn't it.

7.Apply Z6 to car one section at a time and remove with another 100% cotton towel. Use very little of the Z6, it goes a long way.

Do steps 4,5,6 and 7 two more times.

3 coats of Z2 and or Z5 is the max per 24 hour period.

Nice summary from gmblack3. Did pretty much the same last weekend for the first time. Gm you must be really getting some thin coats! I was able to get 3 coats of Z5/2 per ounce, for my preference found that was thin enough.

Definitely preferred the cotton towel for removal vice MF (sorry YS:)). Probably would have been the first to tell you that whole anti-static thing was nonsense, but my car is significantly less dusty this week. Will give that one a little more time.

you are doing fine. Z6 works well in between coats to make the surface slicker so additional coats go on easier and thinner, enhace the gloss with a higher optic 3D effect, and make sure no dust is on the car before rubbing a layer of z2/z5 in.......

Try it out before your next coat. And post pics!!

As far as frequency of application, I would go with at least one coat every 3-4 months if your goal is longevity of the finish. I find myself layering on a coat almost weekly with the wash cause it is so darned easy to use. A coat a week keeps the finish in tiptop shape, and I don't use up all my ZFX doing three coats at a time.

As far as the Z6 goes, I use a MF to wipe it, and I find it goes a long way. I don't saturate the paint like I would with FI. I have become master of the "partial squirt." What I do, is keep the nozzle on the Z6 sprayer almost closed. When I pull the trigger I get a small splatter of Z6. I hold the bottle and nozzle parallel to the paint, so that when the product comes out, it will fall onto the paint. Normally when spraying you would hold the nozzle perpendicular to the vertical surface, that makes you use much more product. I also find that once the MF has some Z6 making it damp, it works to my advantage.

Trouble - I thought you were smarter than that, you should be in the recliner. Have Flash fetch you a beer

I'll go with the Steelers.

I'll go with the Steelers.

I don't partake in drinking embalming fluid myself. Makes me sick as a Dog

So, you pick the Steelers? What score do you guess?

* All guesstiments must be entered before 2nd half kickoff Da Rules!

Well, not watching the game at all (DVR'ing it) and the score is 21-10 Packers leading, I'll swag 47-49 Steelers by a slim margin

It's nice to see you back here Trouble. We missed you. You need to tell daddy to get his but back as well.

Anyway, I like the Steelers 27-24!
