Steam This !!!

VX 5000 - $695, 2 year warranty, free shipping.

Vapor Systems, LLC

Great Customer Service. we had a wand switch go bad - they overnighted the switch.

We have two.

As a side note, a Detailer up in Montreal suggests you LOCK UP your cleaners for sixty days, and just force yourself to clean with steam! The more I use steam, the more he just might be right!

And then you can brag about being Green...

Really? That's kinda amusing actually. I followed the link, hoping to see a price, but it doesn't mention it anywhere, it just says best steamer for "under $1000" or "well under $1000" in about 10 places.

I hate places that don't list a price.

Here is a little tip...usually when you see "email us for pricing" or something similar it just means they are selling it below what the manufacturer ask them to sell it online and this way they technically are not advertising a low price.

Some of the places where I have bought my motorcycle gear had a "buy it now" button or an "email us for lower pricing" button. If you where in a hurry you could buy it now if you could wait a little they sent you an email with a special "hidden" site with lower prices.

I decided the longer beefer hose and the hands on training was worth the extra $300. Not a bad price though!

Well, I'm going to do the unthinkable and go buy a cheap 99 dollar unit from Lowes and start practicing on the wood floors, tile, and shower. I just can't swing a more expensive unit right now, but there's some stuff on the headliner of my car that I just don't think is gonna come out without a steamer.

Hope his DVD is released soon...

Just knock up the wifey again and she might not mind your your $1000 steamer purchase. But sooner or later you'll pay for it eventually ;)

Hey, I saw a deal - I thought it was anyway on a Steamax on TOL, think it was 600 bucks. Do any of ya'll have an opinion on that?

Thanks

I've been reading a lot on steamers - here and over on Mobileworks Forum. It's kinda confusing. Mr. Buffet, I watched the 4 minute video on the VX5000, I don't know, but it didn't seem to show a lot of steam coming out the end. I realize they were not doing car interiors but compared to the Desiderio vids - the VX5000 looked week, is that the case?

I am using a daimer that is excellent.

I forget...do you have the same 1500C that I do?

SuperBee364- Just be careful if you get a cheapie. I used a..uhm...I forget...a little hand-held deal (maybe labeled "Bissell") for a while and its housing cracked one day.. and *oh man* did I get scalded

One of the cheap ones that people seem to like is called a "Steam Buggy". My father had one and he loved it, as did all the people he lent it to.

Oh good Lord, that's terrible. Burns are the very worst type of pain, IMO.

Here's the ones I'm looking at so far:

McCulloch MC-1275: Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner ***OUT OF STOCK*** until mid April--Compare to SF-275 Same price, Same accessories. Blue color. :: Steam Cleaners :: Household Appliances :: OnlineWorld.com Wholesale Health and Nutritional Supplements

Top Innovations SteamFast SF-275: SteamMax :: Steam Cleaners :: Household Appliances :: OnlineWorld.com Wholesale Health and Nutritional Supplements

I'm sure they aren't the best around, but I don't plan on ever using one on a customer's car. I've never done paid-for interiors, and I certainly don't plan on it now. :) It's just for my cars, floors, bathrooms, etc.

SuperBee364- Notice the similarities between those two steamers ;) They also bear a general resemblance to the SteamBuggy I mentioned. Those are uttery different in configuration from the one that burned me...the boiler on those isn't part of the thing you're holding in your hand. Maybe they even quit making the kind that I had (and for good reason IMO).

With a tiny iota of common sense you oughta do fine with either of those :D Run off and buy one so you can get so impressed that you end up buying a commercial unit...yeah yeah, I hear you... heh heh I didn't think *I* would ever need a big one either :o

Supe, do you think those steamers in your post will suffice to get by for detailing interiors? I figured that it's better to have some sort of steamer temporarily rather than no steamer at all.

Not trying to speak for SuperBee364, but having done a fair assortment of work with a number of different steamers, the answer is "yes".

You don't need a super-powerful steamer for interiors, in fact, you have to be careful with my Daimer lest you do damage. Undercarriages/etc. are a different story.

IMO any steamer is better than no at all ;)

And it'd be a backup if you get a better one later.

Heh, no problem for speaking up Accumulator! Your opinion is just as gold as his and I think I'll be making a purchase soon for a cheap steamer for now. Eventually I'll graduate to one of those nifty commercial ones hehe.

I can't wait for the interior cleaning to get significantly easier!!!

I had the McCulloch and the attachments sucked, not durable at all. Not sure about the Steamfast.
