Sonus Detailing Spritz Problems - Help

How many off you guys have had a chance to try this out?

I had great hopes for this stuff, thinking it would be better than the Carnuba Spritz that I understand its replacing. After my first experince was a let down which resulted in a little minor streaking when used after wash, ( Nattys and Souveran on the car at the time - Streaking came straight off with Carnuba Spritz) I thought I would give it another try, wiping down the car before adding a coat off Wolfgang.

The car had been in the garage since last Friday or Saturday and had 2 coats of UPP applied. Every panel streaked this time. :( First time use there was some odd hazing here and there, tonight I have never seen anything like it. Doors, wings and quaters streaked a little, but the hood and roof. I have never seen anything like it It streaked and hazed all over.

Am i doing something wrong, a couple of shots for most panels, 4 on the larger panels. Wiping it off with a couple of Pakshak Ultra Plushes?

The streaking was no where near as bad after a wash and on a carnuba finish, would there be any reason it did not like UPP. This is on Black paint, cool paint, no sun, working in the garage. Is slightly more humid than normal, but can be a problem as the WG coat I have applied came off fine.

Help, any ideas?, as this is looking to be the first product I have ever decided to bin.

Cheers

Forgot to say I tried spraying the QD on the MF first and then wiping the panel with the damp MF , and removing with another clean dry one - still streaked, almost so you could see a pattern of the wipe motion use.

Since this is a brand new product, I suggest asking DavidB about this. Actually, I'm going to move this thread over to the Ask The Manufacturer forum so he can reply to it.

I have a bottle of the new spritz and have heard nothing but great things about it, but haven't actually used it myself yet to make a recommendation.

I've been having the same streaking issues. :( I hope this is a case of a need for a slight adjustment in the formula.

I'd like to better understand the conditions under which it is being applied. In my final testing I used it in the sun, shade, car damp, car dry, and a number of different towels.

Admittedly humid here in FL, always in a garage on a car that hasn't been driven in a while, I'd say about 88 degrees, used both a "regular" buffing MF and a DF towel which performed somewhat better, streaking still existed though.

Curiously, the Sonus CS works just fine. Buffs clean with no streaking.

I am not DB but I have a suggestion. Since the new 8 oz has a very fine mist, try holding the bottle closer to the paint(Yes I spray on the paint and not on the MF). Spray two or three squirts to the top half of a fender and wipe with one towel, the wipe again with the second dry MF.

If the air is saturated with humidity try using less or more spritz.

I have a red Saab, Black Dodge Durango and Silver Dodge and the new spritz hasn't streaked for me.

I did have streaking problems with the Carnuaba spritz. Go Figure..

The streaking is from the polymers in the spritz. The CS and AS products do not have these polymers (AS has acrylic sealant and CS has a carnauba emulsion).

I'm going to try several different cars again this weekend to see if I can get DS to streak.

I have used both in the open on a warm dry day, and last night on a cool night in the garage, but maybe a touch humid. Like Bill CS has worked fine to clean up the streaking on both occassions. I have not manged to make this streak in any conditions.

Both occassions dry car, with Pakshak Ultra Plush MF, or Meguiars Supreme Shine MF's. Only on a black car so far.

Once over Nattys/Souveran Wax

Once over a week old application of UPP

Jon - I have the bigger bottle, the first use I use one towel to wipe and one to buff off and it stll streaked?

Will have another try over the weekend weather dependant.

Has any decision been made yet David as to weather CS and AS will now be replaced by just the DS?

Cheers all.

I also have some steaking with the new detailer over fmj sunny weather, outside 68 humidity 70 % It streaks less than full strenth fmj spray though.

I'm not speaking for David, but I've heard that it is definitely replacing CS, and depending on the demand, it may replace AS as well, but this will be determined by what kind of demand is left for it.

I tried the DS again today, in the hot, direct sun and I did see some slight streaking, might just be down to the hot panels though, but I did try Wolfgang detail spritz on the next panel and that buffed off easier with no streaks, seemed just as slick too.

Any more news from Sonus on the streaking?

Revisted this again today. Streaking does not seem so bad on Carnuba Finishes. Didnt get any streaking on any verical panels today over Souveran or Poorboys Nattys Blue. Horizontal panels though, roof and hood, streaked. Not as much as any panel did over UPP or Wolfgang, but needed an application of Carnuba Spritz to remove it.

David I see there is still CS in the Autopia store but no AS, how long till you discontinue the CS to?

I would hate to lose it. Have started to get used to Pinnacle CM, but still dont like it as much.

Cheers

I used the DS this weekend on my red F150 and black 350Z. I didn't have any streaking issues at all. The DS was applied over NXT on the truck and Souveran on the 350Z.

One thing that I did notice is that the DS tends to really soak the MF towel. I wonder if maybe using 2 MF's might aid in cutting down on the streaking.

I still find it to be an awesome product.

Pat's suggestion is a very good one . Two MFs can alwys be helpful.

I made an interesting observation yesterday. Even though I always QD in the garage, the temperatures have dipped a little bit here, into about the mid 80s (temporarily) or so. Perhaps more importantly, it's been feeling more comfortable overall, so I assume that can be attributed to decreased humidity.

I tried Sonus Detailing Spritz and no evident streaking or left over haze to speak of this time.

If this remains the case, I'll conclude this will have to be more of a Autumn/Winter QD for Florida weather.

Rolled the car out off the garage, very cool today. Was using two Pakshak Ultra plushes, one did get very wet but the other stayed dry. Ws much better than past attempts but still streaked on the roof and hood?
