Sonax Gloss Shampoo

I agree, the customer service at AG is worth the $2, AND you get a $7 wash mitt for free. I actually bought the same mitt about a month ago, and it's one of the best wash mitt's I've ever used. SUPER soft material; highly recommended!!

And the only item cheaper than AG, is the shampoo at TOL. I don't know what's the big deal. I will continue to order from AG because I live in FL, and get all my stuff next day from UPS ground.

Nick, I guess you missed my last post. I had better pricing across the board when I left the link, but received a call from the manufacturer about 10 minutes later! I was asked to raise prices. :( P.S. A lot of companies have great service.

I've always had outstanding service from TOL. If I was going to try the Sonax, I'd get it from them. I suppose if I was in FL it would make sense to get stuff from AG but TOL always ships quicker to me at my location.

Asked to raise prices?....Like someone called to complain that you were too low?

Interesting!

Irene..the pricing is fixed on my order I received today, right!!!!!:bat

:D
Excellent!

About the Sonax pricing.. I have no idea what prompted the call, but it's not unusual to receive pricing complaints between vendors. Price matching is the easiest way to get around that.

Most of the time it's just manufacturers wanting to control price levels. Makes it difficult to run specials on multiple items.

Not only has TOL and AG picked up this line, but I just noticed CMA has it too. Interesting that so many stores have already picked it up.

Sonax was available in the US before, and was talked about here years ago, so there was so anticipation of/for the return

Anyone know what the actual size of the Sonax shampoo bottles are? TOL lists it as 16.9 oz but Autogeek and CMA both list the bottle as 33.8 oz. Also, I noticed on the TOL site that the dilution ratio was 1 oz shampoo to half-a-gallon of water. That tranlates to 4 oz to 2 gallons of water, which seems to be double the usual recommendations of most other brands, ie: 2 oz to 2 gallons of water. Anyhoo, for those of you who have had experience with this Sonax shampoo, what are your thoughts?

I noticed those inconsistencies as well. Certainly sounds rather expensive.

I like how Autogeek is giving away a "Cobra" muppet head wash mitt! LOL, you can get the "Cobra" for $2.49 at WalMart!

Sorry, I just got a kick out of their description, making it sound like some must have, unique Cobra washing tool!

Whatta ya say we import them ourselves straight from China for pennies:

Wash Mitts (Ningbo Aidike Textiles Co., Ltd.,China (Mainland))

I'm shocked, Griots sells the same muppet heads!

Back on topic...I have a few bottles of the old school Sonax soap when DavidB sold them for 30% off a few years ago. To be honest, I see no need for you folks to go run out and buy it. I like it, but I like a lot of soaps. Save your money. Most quality OTC soaps are just as comparable.

I'd recommend Meg. #62 before Sonax. I get mine from these guys:

Meguiar's Mirror Glaze M6201 Carwash Shampoo & Conditioner - 1 Gallon Order# MEGM6201 TheToolWarehouse.Net

I agree Splichy...I bought the muppet head wash mitts at wal mart at season close out for .99 each...so the mark up is real good on them..

But like you said..I also got the sonax a few years back and it is nothing special....alot of the BMW dealers had it also....there are alot of OTC shampoos that work and look as good and better...I think TOL's bubble bath is a good shampoo for the money..

and TOL does offer great service...

Al

Excellent point Al!

You can get Sonax and / or P21s soaps at your local BMW dealerships bottled in a container with a BMW logo.

Sometimes I pick up items for my boss for his vintage Mercedes at a local Mercedes dealership and they sell re-badged Meguiar's OTC products with the Mercedes logo on it.

The one AG is giving away is not something you can pickup at Wal-Mart. It's by far the softest wash mitt I've ever used, and I've used many before. I would recommend this wash mitt, especially if it's free with the order of Shampoo. They're like giving you $7 back.

What is the fiber content of the Cobra mitt? Cotton, poly blend, etc.

You can buy it at WalMart. Autogeek and their "Cobra" line is not made by AutoGeek or Cobra. Rather their MF's are imported from China or Korea and labeled with their marketing material. Just like Sonus, CMA, Meguiars and Mothers and all the rest.

Just like you see all the various sheepskin wash mitts. They are identical and all made in China. I own Turtle Wax, Eurow, Baja Sol (old Target line), Viking, Sonus, CMA and Costco. They are all IDENTICAL and all made in China. You can line each one up and be completely unable to differentiate the look, feel or performance even down to the exact same pattern stitched into the black cuff.

None of these companies make their MF or sheepskin. They buy them in bulk from a supplier in China (or Korea for certain MF's) and put their own marketing material on it.

Again, look at this link from a Chinese supplier that exports to the US and compare it to the mitts from AG and Griots and Vroom and WalMart:

Wash Mitts (Ningbo Aidike Textiles Co., Ltd.,China (Mainland))

Where is your mitt made? I guarantee China like the supplier in the link above where these companies buy from. It is no different from WalMart's except the price.

Look at this sheepskin:

Sheepskin Lambswool Wash Mitt (Dezhou Huihua Industries Co.,Ltd., China (Mainland))

Look familiar? Just like sheepskins you see with the mesh on the back. Again, purchased from a Chinese supplier. Every non thumbed sheepskin mitt (all made in China) that I own looks like that.

The same argument goes for many MF's too. I have 200+ of them, all indistinguishable from each other (the ones that look alike). The Meguiars Ultimate wipe is identical to the Sonus Der Wunder Polishing Towel and The Perfect Shine Polishing & Cleaning Towel, Excel Edgeless, Microfibertech Edgeless and PakShak Ultra-Edgeless.

Again, these companies do not make the towels, rather they import them.

So, your Cobra AG mitt is a made in China product that is the same (in my opinion) as the one in WalMart.

I totally agree with you. But I have not found such a soft Mirco-Chennile mitt anywhere. If you have them locally, more money to ya, but I have a super-Walmart and super-Target within miles, and neither has anything close.

I'm just saying this is a good wash mitt for free, with the purchase the Sonax shampoo.

Cobra Micro-Chenille Wash Mitt

I don't care for the name, instead, a high-quality product. I have numerous Target and Walmart MF's that I use, just not on the paint.

Yikes, I thought the bottles were 1/2L. Looks like I'm ended up ordering a lot of shampoo :grinno:

Are y'all sayin' the bottles from TOL are really full litres for $8??
