Shiny dash

Help! I made a mistake and shined the top of the dash with a vinyl protectant. Now it reflects too much when driving into the sun. Is there a good way to dull this down, yet keep some "protection" on the vinyl (and I'm assuming it's vinyl).

Use a damp microfiber cloth and wipe down the dash. After the shine is gone use 303 Aerospace protectant, no high gloss and no outgassing to haze up the windows but good protection from UV rays:up

Do what Rad21 suggests. It is the BEST method IMO. 303 has one of the highest uv protections and a clean finish appearance.

I found it at Boaters World in Richmond. If you go to www.303products.com they have a dealer locater. I found about it from these guys and it is the best thing since sliced bread. Between 303 and my Microfiber towels from Pakshack.com I am in Heaven!!!

Hey Stargeezer, I live in Yorktown. Where are you located???

I have found Pro's Glosso produces a finish like 303 Aerospace and it doesn't cost an a$$ load. I think for a little more than the price of a 16oz bottle of 303 you can get a gallon of Glosso.

Intel486 where do you get your Pro Glosso from? Does it have the same/similar uv protection characteristics? I find this interesting and want to know more. I like 303 since it can be used for a variety of things including maintaining my colgan car bra (actually recommended by clogan).

The bottle says it contains UV inhibitors.

Go to prowax.com and email them asking about a local distributor. They'll tell you where one is locally. You can usually stop in or they will deliver to you. My distributor comes to my area every monday.

Regardless of what dressing you choose to work with (I like 303 and Vinylex myself), what do you use to apply it? I use to use a hand-towel, but that was a little too large and would always seem to leaves streaks of dressing where I didn't want it, like the window glass. I tried some mf's with my 303 last week, and it seemed like the mf's were absorbing all of my dressing and not actually applying it, causing me to use too much. Any good applicator suggestions?

I use those foam shoe polish applicators or a terry covered foam pad. You can also just cut up a wash cloth into quarters and try that for tight spaces.

I use terry cloth applicators regardless of what dressing I'm using. I've never had a problem.

Has anyone tried Armor All Low-Gloss protectant? A search didn't turn up much except a reference to their Interior Grease-Free stuff in the black bottle. Just wondering because I think this only costs about 1/3 the price of 303...

Sometime back I was given a bottle of thiis. Not being a fan of ArmorAll, I used it only on my tires. When I next washed my vehicle, a lot of brown gunk came off. Several people on this site told me the brown stuff couldn't have been caused by the ArmorAll. All I can say is before the ArmorAll, no brown gunk, after I quit using the ArmorAll, no brown gunk. Since I have started using 303, no brown gunk either. I gave away the bottle of ArmorAll.

I put Armor All on the back Seat of a used car I had just purchased. That was a $250.00 mistake. Within 3 weeks of application, 4 of the six seams split. When I put on the new vinyl, the owner of the business asked if I had put on Armour All. He had seen this kind of thing before. I bought my 303 from him, and now use it on all of my dashes. Meguiars #39 is one of the few products that is a vinyl cleaner. When not on the dash, I also really like Meguiars #40, and it's a much lower cost. It will also work on the dash, but has a slightly higher reflection that I don't prefer there.

Heh heh, okay okay! It's just that some people like their Interior formula, and this stuff is cheap! :p

Anyone know a dressing that's supre matte? 303 is a little on the bling side for me. (I'll still use it, but I'd prefer more matte)

If 303 is too bling bling, I don't think you will ever be happy - does such a thing even exist? :D

EDIT: one tip I read from the umm... er... Armor All site was to wipe down the surface with a damp cloth to reduce the gloss. Haven't verified this though.
