S2000 or G35 coupe

Please do post the progress. The dealer HAMMERED that one.:(

Will do.

The finish actually feels surprsingly smooth. It was a showroom car so perhaps that's why. Still, I'll clay before polishing. Can't wait to have it swirl-free. :)

That is one draw back of getting an "old age unit"...they will spray if off with a pressure washer (using water only) then they wipe it down. You will find a lot of useful info on s2ki.com. I really miss mine. Enjoy.

Awesome... :goodjob and congratulations on your purchase. I'm happy you tried both and found what you wanted.

The hard top is a sweet option (expensive too, usually) and would have sold it for me since I highly dislike convertibles. I can't wait to see the red cleaned up... it's going to look oh so sweet!

Very nice! Glad you took the time to compare and decide what was best for you. For some reason, that car looks like one Michael Schumacher would drive to me.

Thanks again everyone.

I did a bit of work on it today with the PC just to get an idea of what I was working with. Surprisingly, claying removed virtually nothing. The passenger front fender polished up fairly nicely, but the hood not so much.

I tried OC/OP as well as SIP/106. After doing a first pass with SIP I realized I was dealing with ss paint...I had no idea. I was a little concerned the SIP may be too aggressive, but the results were very good, especially for one pass with the PC. The OC worked well too.

It was tough to get full sun shots as the sun was going in and out of clouds

Here's the fender before...

Here's what I'm dealing with on the hood...

This is after a pass of OC/OP. It's improved, but I think I may switch to the rotary with foamed wool to quicken up the process and likely get a better finish. I may continue working on it throughout the week, or just wait until Saturday to do the entire car. When done I'll post in click & brag.

like everyone else said... if you're looking for a sports car go with the s2k, if u just want a luxurious coupe, go with the g35c. I do not consider the g35c a sports car by any standards. I have a 350z, and compared to my friends s2k, it's barreellllyyy quicker, and for sure, doesn't handle nearly as well. Now if youre going to get into modifications, then it's a different story :D

ehh.. looks like i was late to this thread.. u already got the s2k... nice choice!!! looks sick with the hardtop and front lip

from what Ive read on s2ki.com new formula red has some red mixed into the clearcoat. So no it is not a ss paint job.

Interesting. Thanks for the info, Carbon.

Congrats on the purchase!!!

I have the exact same car, 2007 NFR S2000.

The car has a clearcoat on it but it's tinted which causes the pad to turn red. I've found the paint to be very soft so you shouldn't have to go too agressive to get the swirls out.

no problem, I too have my eyes set on an NFR or BB s2k, AP1 only though :D but thats still down the road. When I drove my friends AP2 i must have at least hit vtec 15 times within 3 miles. Ive been following the s2k since it was a concept and its such a blast to drive. You can find me over on s2ki with the same sn so if youve got any questions just ask away!

Well, it's not. It's a grand tourer.

Exactly. The G35, as a GT, is intended for more comfort than a raw sports car like the S2000, or even a 350Z.

Although I am the consummate Honda apologist, put me down for one of those new Nissan 370Z's when they're out!
