S2000 or G35 coupe

I've been considering purchasing a low mileage, 1 - 3 year old S2000 or G35 coupe. I basically want the car to be as new as possible without having to take the hit of the depreciation of driving a new one off the lot.



I've been going back and forth between these two cars. Just looking for opinions/personal experiences on them.

I'm 6'3 and I've sat in a few S2000's. To me, at my height, it seems like it'd be fun for a while, but I'd go with the G35. I think it'd be the more comfortable and better all around car. I think the powerband of the G would be more fun on the street too.
 
Go with the G35, love them. Right now I have an 03 350z and wouldn't trade it for the world. Plus with the G35 you have the Hp and the torque.
 
Both cars are nice but I'd go with the G35 (maybe a biased opinion) :).



I am not sure of the exact features of the S2000 but I'm fairly certain you get more for your money with the G35. And as mentioned the power is nice too... the S2000 has to be really wound up (which could be fun too, it just depends).



One thing I really enjoy about the G35 is the warranty and service provided by the dealership. I don't believe that Honda offers loaner cars when you have a vehicle serviced and who wants the hassle of having to find a ride when your car is being worked on?



I've got an 04 coupe that I bought used in November of 05. To this day I still enjoy driving it and find myself taking the long way around to the grocery store more often than not :chuckle:
 
If this vehicle is going to be a daily driver, go with the coupe.

If this is going to be a fun and sporty driving option for those nice days, go with the sports car.



If you are over 2 hundred pounds and more then 6.0' tall - coupe.
 
For a daily driver, id go for the G35. I think you'd be happier in the end after the new car joy wears a bit.



Having driven both, the G is all around the more fun (day to day).



But ohh that manual on the S2000 is like sweet butter. The best one i've driven so far. (Still waiting to get behind the wheel of a porsche).
 
As much as I love Honda and all of their vehicles, I'd go with the G35. You get more for your money. The S2K is pretty tight too, even for me at 5'9" with a thin build.

I'd love to help you answer your question. But I need to know exactly what this cars gonna be used for.



I've driven both, and my friends own both. You have your RPM's on the s2000 which is a winner, but on the G, you have the VQ 3.5 in a boat with pretty interior.



Do you want good interior looks, or do you want speed.



I normally dont reply to posts like these, because your asking people you dont know, what YOU should buy and not doing the HW yourself. Goto google or yahoo.



Search for things like s2000 problem, s2000 recalls, g35 recalls, and so on.



Cause with forums its always "what i've heard"..."I saw this"..."I read somewhere"



Be your own judge. take a test drive and romp the pedal to the floor! I'll tell you now. Out of the 12 cars i've owned in the past 3 years. Not 1 salesman said...oh no, slow down. They love it too. Break that sh*t!

Depends. Unless its the newest G35, i.e., this model year (or maybe last), then it has far from a "pretty" interior, IMHO.
 
I've owned a s2000 and driven alot of g35's. Im 6'1" 250lbs and i fit fine in the s2000.



For something your going to daily drive every day and want comfort the s2000 isnt for you. If you want a car that was designed to handle like it was on rails and be insanely reliable but give up interior space and passenger carrying ability then go with the s2000.



The s2000 is a car for automotive enthusiest that are looking for a car that when the engineers designed it to push the limits of power/handling/stablilty without sacraficing reliablilty. Its not very often that you see a car who's inital design was from 1999 that is still one of the top 10 handling cars in 2007.



It basically comes down to what you want to use the car for. As a DD that your just going to cruise in get the G. A car that your going to enjoy taking to the road course or mountains get the S.



The G is a comfort car. The S is a drivers car.
 
if you want a car that can handle and is a bare bones sports car go with the s2000. It doesnt have the luxury that the g35 has.



If you want a nice coupe all around go with the g35. The s2000 is more fun to drive, but less practical.

The resource lists all bulletins posted for the specific year model that you chose.

I do not like though that the site changed recently and requires a sign up. The worst part about this is that it looks like you can only view one bulletin per day with the free membership which sucks! Nevertheless you can see what sort of common items are reported on the vehicle. Any of the symptoms that I had were covered under warranty anyway and were fixed. I did purchase an extended warranty for peace of mind that covers the car to 90,000 miles. I shopped around for the best price and picked it up.



These are the problems that I've experienced:

- Headlights replaced (cracked on inside plastic HID/halogen divider)

- interior rearview mirror replaced (rattled like crazy)

- Leather replaced on bottom cushion of drivers seat (due to split)

- Passenger side window motor replaced twice (common item for failure)

- clutch switch replaced due to sporadic issues of car not starting



Although the list seems lengthy for the car my ownership experience has been great. Most of the "problems" are more of an annoyance and certainly not show stopping. It also helps that the local dealership treats me right and always provides a loaner when the car is being serviced. :cool:

I went from G35C to 350Z to S2000. I would recommend any of them but it really just depends on what you want out of the car. I found myself wanting smaller/lighter/nimbler cars as I got more into track driving. The pros and cons have pretty much been covered, drive them both and you will probably know which one you really want since they really are quite different.

In the past, I've lived with a cushy Acura RL and a bone-jarring MX-5 with an aftermarket suspension. There are things I liked and disliked about both. As far as the different dynamics of the G and the S2000, I'm sure I could live with either car. I realize I'd sacrifice some comfort choosing the S.



What it may come down to is reliability, and it's difficult to get a concise handle on this, as researching both cars brings up some issues that some owners have had. On the G forums there are quite a few oil consumption issues I've read about. On the S forums there are some differential issues some members have had. That said, no matter what car is researched, I realize some people are always going to have one with mechanical issues, some will not.
 
S2000 hands down. They are certainly not similar cars in my book. Do you want a sports car or a luxury car.



The S2000 will be more reliable in the long run, and may have better resale.



As far as differential problems, if you drop the clutch at 7k RPM's at every light, you'll have problems.:scared:
 
Id have to say either would be a great choice. I've done mtn. runs with S2K's and they are killer! The G35 would probably be a better car due to the off the line grunt of the V6, but the S2K's are still great! As far as the diff. goes i've only heard of them going out with 500HP lol, so i wouldn't worry about it too much.
