Rupes Washer Mod...yes/no

I just wanted input on whether to do the washer mod on my Rupes 15 and Mini 75e. Does it really make that much improvement if you do?

I read you can use a backing plate spacer used on a PC.

I have them on all my rupes except the mini for obvious reasons. It definitely helps when doing heavy cutting at higher speeds.

IIRC, I don't think you can do the washer mod on the mini. The backing plate isn't "free" on the Duetto and mini like the Rupes 15 and 21.

Has anyone inspected their backing plate after the KB washer mod.
It looks like my arbor rotated 90 degrees. I've only had the 21 for a week or so and did a hood at speed 6.
Has anyone else damaged their plate with the mod?

I recall someone said if you can master the Rupes without the washer you will get better results without the washer.

Interesting, I was under the impression that the KB washer mod was the ticket.

It does reduce drag so it does spin faster. The claim was if you cannot master it without the washer (keeping the pad moving by holding the polisher level) then you will not get the most without the polisher. I did see a difference too.
