Price & Price Per Ounce: $16.99 for One Pint

Manufacturer Claims: 2180 Ultra Seal a sealant for use on all finishes, is a blend of anti corrosive, detergent resistant polydimethylsiloxane copolymers, which provide the finish with a high glossed protective film that gives intensive wear and great resistance to heat and water. 2180 removes surface accumulation and oxidation while penetrating and sealing the pores of the paint, giving great depth and trueness of color. This along with high melt resins offers prolonged surface protection and resistance to the elements, UV, oxidation and detergents for months of maintenance free appearance driving pleasure. Excellent for use on paint, fiber glass, gel coat, glass and chrome surfaces.

Packaging: Came in a One Pint Bottle. Similar in size and plastic to DP Sealant, PB EX, Adams Butterwax ,ect.

Color/Scent/Viscosity: The product is a thick light blue liquid. Same viscosity of Adams Butter Wax, Poorboys EX, Zaino Z-2 and Z-5, ect.

How I used (as per instructions): Last night i stayed up an hour polishing the side panels and parts of the hood. Thanks to the complimentary wash I got when i went in to rotate my tires. The rest of the car still had Z-5 and FK1 Pink Wax. Normally I would simply just polish the rest fo the paint with some AIO to remove waxes/sealants. This time I washed the car normally to remove dust build up from the polishing and slinging. Then before drying i used FK1 # 1119 (pending review), its a concentrated detergent that removes any and all waxes, silicones, sealants, acrylics, coatings, ect, without the need for a high alkaline dish soap. Then gave the car another wash with car soap to neutralize the acids. Yes, ACIDS, but the manufacturer claimed it was intended for that purpose and a lot safer than dawn and won't damage and dry rubbers. Hey whats a review without testing new products. This worked quite Good and completely stripped everything off. Ok back to the sealant. I used a "Polishing Pal" I got from Autogeek.net using a finishing pad. The product was not hard to apply but it wasn't the easiest product to apply. That title goes to Collinite #845. It did on the other hand surprise me as being one of the easiest if not THE EASIEST product to remove. I let the product dry for 30 minutes and by simply gliding my MF towel over it the product would come off. I wouldn't be surprised if a California Car Duster would've done the same (OK, Maybe not, but it was definately easy.). Gave it a final wipe with #425 QD (another great product) and voila!

Overall Thoughts:

I'm in love (but I've been in love before, LOL), the reason I even looked at this product was because I had my rear bumper damaged and needed a new bumper with paint job. The general idea is that you can't wax or seal fresh paint without letting it cure first. I did on the other hand ask around and it turns out FK1 #2180 is safe to use. Provides Protection while letting the paint breathe. And so does OCW by the way. Ask the manufacturer. So obviosly my main concern was protection and not looks for the bumper, because c'mon, anything looks good on black. I simply expected the shine to be a bonus. Boy, WHAT A BONUS! The shine is comparable to Zaino, but with depth. Not even Z-5 touches the shine, clarity, and depth of this product. I'll let the Pictures decide for you.

Other notes: Make sure you don't let water touch it for 12 hours or atleast leave it in the sun for 3 hours minimum (manufacturers tip). Forgot to mention the customer service techs claim minimum 8 months protection in bad climates. Is it BS? I don't know, and I obviously won't be the one to find out. Atleast not on my car.

Your BMW looks excellent!

#2180 and #218 are both top sealers.

#218 is easier on/off (IMO) -and I like the look of #218 a bit better too.

#2180 is color guarded. If you apply it too thick it will remain blue.

You should consider topping #2180 with a coat or 2 of Pink Wax. It will blow you away -especially on black paint!

I agree!! Top with pink wax for amazing depth, and if you want to get crazy use fx-100 after that.

Greg

I think your car looks great, but then again, I haven't seen it look bad.

Have you thought about trying Z2 Pro next to it? I found the look quite similar. Just a thought.

As far as using 2180/OCW on fresh paint...You can use any pure paint sealant on fresh paint. Paint sealants allow paint to breathe whereas a wax literally seals the paint in. The solvents needs to outgas from the paint and the paint will fully cure.

i guess this is expected with a car that has a good paint job & is a almost new. :beer_smil nice keep up the good work.

Hmmm, can you name some familiar products that are "pure sealants"? This is interesting.

between you and Greg your making me wanna place an order. I can't justify it because of the products i have already. Looking at what FK has done for your paint is pushing me Real Hard.

So since this has some cleaning properties to it is it not layerable? Also what would you use by FK1USA to layer on top as a sealant except for the pastes it offers?

Looks great!

Andrew

I wouldn;t neccesarily layer any product, just an extra coat to give full coverage. With only one layer this product is supposed to rival zaino's durabilty.Again, I won;t be the one to find out. lol...

I plan on using Pink Wax on top Then Fx100 ever so often after that.

2180 doesn't have cleaning properties. 218 does.
#1000 on top of 2180 is the combo to try.

Joy, how's the look changed in the last 2 days? I always enjoy to see the definition and overall appearance improve as time goes by...

How come more manufacturers and distributers don't mention this?

Liability. Paint jobs vary as much as waxes and sealants do. The prep is different, the actual paint is different/how many layers, the clear is different/how many layers. Also, how they let it bake or dry and wetsand/compound/polish.

From experience, I've used paste waxes on freshly painted surfaces to see what happens. The paint becomes a little cloudy over a course of a month, but once you polish it, it goes away and never comes back. It's all up to you in what you want to do. Personally, I'd just keep it clean (ie: regular washing) and treatments of a QD or Z8/OCW. People worry far too much about the negatives of "waxing" a newly painted finish.

Applied a coat of #2180 Friday, lol it snowed Sat.. The look is sharp, reflective, yet wet-looking. It actually looked better than the Trade Secret Wax, I had been using...

have you noticed any improvement in looks since application? I know others have stated that they were much more impressed a few days after it was applied.
