Product: FK1 #2180 Ultra Poly Wip Sealant (anti-static)
Price & Price Per Ounce: $16.99 for One Pint
Manufacturer Claims: 2180 Ultra Seal a sealant for use on all finishes, is a blend of anti corrosive, detergent resistant polydimethylsiloxane copolymers, which provide the finish with a high glossed protective film that gives intensive wear and great resistance to heat and water. 2180 removes surface accumulation and oxidation while penetrating and sealing the pores of the paint, giving great depth and trueness of color. This along with high melt resins offers prolonged surface protection and resistance to the elements, UV, oxidation and detergents for months of maintenance free appearance driving pleasure. Excellent for use on paint, fiber glass, gel coat, glass and chrome surfaces.
Packaging: Came in a One Pint Bottle. Similar in size and plastic to DP Sealant, PB EX, Adams Butterwax ,ect.
Color/Scent/Viscosity: The product is a thick light blue liquid. Same viscosity of Adams Butter Wax, Poorboys EX, Zaino Z-2 and Z-5, ect.
How I used (as per instructions): Last night i stayed up an hour polishing the side panels and parts of the hood. Thanks to the complimentary wash I got when i went in to rotate my tires. The rest of the car still had Z-5 and FK1 Pink Wax. Normally I would simply just polish the rest fo the paint with some AIO to remove waxes/sealants. This time I washed the car normally to remove dust build up from the polishing and slinging. Then before drying i used FK1 # 1119 (pending review), its a concentrated detergent that removes any and all waxes, silicones, sealants, acrylics, coatings, ect, without the need for a high alkaline dish soap. Then gave the car another wash with car soap to neutralize the acids. Yes, ACIDS, but the manufacturer claimed it was intended for that purpose and a lot safer than dawn and won't damage and dry rubbers. Hey whats a review without testing new products. This worked quite Good and completely stripped everything off. Ok back to the sealant. I used a "Polishing Pal" I got from Autogeek.net using a finishing pad. The product was not hard to apply but it wasn't the easiest product to apply. That title goes to Collinite #845. It did on the other hand surprise me as being one of the easiest if not THE EASIEST product to remove. I let the product dry for 30 minutes and by simply gliding my MF towel over it the product would come off. I wouldn't be surprised if a California Car Duster would've done the same (OK, Maybe not, but it was definately easy.). Gave it a final wipe with #425 QD (another great product) and voila!
Overall Thoughts:
I'm in love (but I've been in love before, LOL), the reason I even looked at this product was because I had my rear bumper damaged and needed a new bumper with paint job. The general idea is that you can't wax or seal fresh paint without letting it cure first. I did on the other hand ask around and it turns out FK1 #2180 is safe to use. Provides Protection while letting the paint breathe. And so does OCW by the way. Ask the manufacturer. So obviosly my main concern was protection and not looks for the bumper, because c'mon, anything looks good on black. I simply expected the shine to be a bonus. Boy, WHAT A BONUS! The shine is comparable to Zaino, but with depth. Not even Z-5 touches the shine, clarity, and depth of this product. I'll let the Pictures decide for you.
Other notes: Make sure you don't let water touch it for 12 hours or atleast leave it in the sun for 3 hours minimum (manufacturers tip). Forgot to mention the customer service techs claim minimum 8 months protection in bad climates. Is it BS? I don't know, and I obviously won't be the one to find out. Atleast not on my car.
