Introduction:
Don`t you hate seeing your wheels dirty and covered with filth and brake dust? How about your tires that has the old sludge up tire dressing? Even worse, when you see your tires browning up!!! Nothing is more of an eye sore than seeing these things on your vehicle.
Well today`s your lucky day! I`m going to provide a how-to article on how you can revive your wheels and tires to make them look like new with McKee`s 37 products! I will also provide my thoughts and opinions regarding the products I used in this review. So sit back and enjoy this write-up.
Here are the directions of each product just in case you`re interested:
Here`s the initial condition of the wheel and tire I worked on today:
Wheel:
Tire:
As you can see above, the wheel is filled with dirt and brake dust while the tire is turning brown. I don`t know when was the last time these were cleaned to be honest.
Now before you start, make sure that your wheels and tires are cool to the touch. As much as possible, let your car site for a few hours before working on the wheels and tires. I`d recommend letting it cool down over night.. If your wheels have a slight hint of warmth, even a pH balanced wheel cleaner can wreck havoc on your wheels. How do I know? From personal experience LOL!
Here are some of the wheel cleaning tools I typically use:
In the picture above, you`ll see the following products:
To get started, grab your McKee`s 37 foaming wheel cleaner gel and start spraying the product on the face of the wheel:
Let the product dwell for 2-3 minutes:
After dwelling for a few minutes, you can start seeing the wheel cleaner react to the brake dust particles:
Next, grab your EZ-Detail wheel brush and start scrubbing the wheel barrels:
The main body of the EZ-Detail wheel brush is bendable so you can bend it any shape you want so that you can clean behind the wheel spokes:
Use your Swissvax wheel brush (or famous wheel brush) to clean hard to reach areas:
You can also use this brush to clean the wheel faces/spokes as shown below:
But that will take a long time. I like using a car wash sponge so that I can cover more area when trying to clean the face and spokes of my wheels:
After cleaning your wheel thoroughly, rinse it off with a strong stream of water:
Now that you`ve cleaned the wheels, it`s time to turn your attention to the tires. Grab your McKee`s 37 Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator and start spraying the product on the sidewall of the tire:
This stuff is so amazing, it turns to brown upon contact! Now you know this product is cleaning the tires effectively and FAST!!!
Look at the brown gunk running off! AMAZING!
Use your tire brush to scrub your tires sidewalls. Scrubbing the sidewalls along with the tire cleaner will help ensure a very clean tire surface.
After cleaning your tire thoroughly, again, rinse it off with a strong stream of water:
After cleaning and rinsing your wheel and tire, don`t forget to dry off your wheel using a premium microfiber towel.
You can also use this microfiber towel to dry your tire but I myself don`t do this. I don`t want to waste my microfiber towel and get it all stained. I just let my tires air dry.
After your wheel and tire have been dried, it`s now time to dress your tires to a nice shine! Grab your McKee`s 37 Gloss Tire Gel and start putting it on your foam applicator pad for your tires.
I like to squeeze my applicator pad to distribute the tire gel somewhat.
Start applying the tire gel on your tires. Add more tire gel to your applicator pad as necessary.
Here are the results!!! Stand back and admire the fruits of your labor - perfectly clean wheels and tires.
