Introduction:

Don`t you hate seeing your wheels dirty and covered with filth and brake dust? How about your tires that has the old sludge up tire dressing? Even worse, when you see your tires browning up!!! Nothing is more of an eye sore than seeing these things on your vehicle.

Well today`s your lucky day! I`m going to provide a how-to article on how you can revive your wheels and tires to make them look like new with McKee`s 37 products! I will also provide my thoughts and opinions regarding the products I used in this review. So sit back and enjoy this write-up.

Here are the directions of each product just in case you`re interested:

Here`s the initial condition of the wheel and tire I worked on today:

Tire:

As you can see above, the wheel is filled with dirt and brake dust while the tire is turning brown. I don`t know when was the last time these were cleaned to be honest.

Now before you start, make sure that your wheels and tires are cool to the touch. As much as possible, let your car site for a few hours before working on the wheels and tires. I`d recommend letting it cool down over night.. If your wheels have a slight hint of warmth, even a pH balanced wheel cleaner can wreck havoc on your wheels. How do I know? From personal experience LOL!

Here are some of the wheel cleaning tools I typically use:

13%2B-%2BTools.JPG

In the picture above, you`ll see the following products:
  1. EZ-Detail Mini Brush
  2. Swissvax Wheel Brush
  3. Sponge
  4. Tire Brush

To get started, grab your McKee`s 37 foaming wheel cleaner gel and start spraying the product on the face of the wheel:

Let the product dwell for 2-3 minutes:

After dwelling for a few minutes, you can start seeing the wheel cleaner react to the brake dust particles:

Next, grab your EZ-Detail wheel brush and start scrubbing the wheel barrels:

31%2B-%2BEZ%2BDetail%2BBrush.JPG

The main body of the EZ-Detail wheel brush is bendable so you can bend it any shape you want so that you can clean behind the wheel spokes:

32%2B-%2BEZ%2BDetail%2BBrush.JPG

Use your Swissvax wheel brush (or famous wheel brush) to clean hard to reach areas:

35%2B-%2BSwissvax%2BBrush.JPG

You can also use this brush to clean the wheel faces/spokes as shown below:

36%2B-%2BSwissvax%2BBrush.JPG

But that will take a long time. I like using a car wash sponge so that I can cover more area when trying to clean the face and spokes of my wheels:

After cleaning your wheel thoroughly, rinse it off with a strong stream of water:

41%2B-%2BWheel%2BRinsing.JPG

Now that you`ve cleaned the wheels, it`s time to turn your attention to the tires. Grab your McKee`s 37 Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator and start spraying the product on the sidewall of the tire:

46%2B-%2BTire%2BProduct%2BSpraying.JPG

This stuff is so amazing, it turns to brown upon contact! Now you know this product is cleaning the tires effectively and FAST!!!

Look at the brown gunk running off! AMAZING!

53%2B-%2BTire%2BProduct%2BDwelling.JPG

Use your tire brush to scrub your tires sidewalls. Scrubbing the sidewalls along with the tire cleaner will help ensure a very clean tire surface.

58%2B-%2BTire%2BBrush.JPG

After cleaning your tire thoroughly, again, rinse it off with a strong stream of water:

60%2B-%2BTire%2BRinsing.JPG

After cleaning and rinsing your wheel and tire, don`t forget to dry off your wheel using a premium microfiber towel.

62%2B-%2BWheel%2BDrying.JPG

You can also use this microfiber towel to dry your tire but I myself don`t do this. I don`t want to waste my microfiber towel and get it all stained. I just let my tires air dry.

After your wheel and tire have been dried, it`s now time to dress your tires to a nice shine! Grab your McKee`s 37 Gloss Tire Gel and start putting it on your foam applicator pad for your tires.

65%2B-%2BTire%2BGloss%2BGel.JPG

I like to squeeze my applicator pad to distribute the tire gel somewhat.

66%2B-%2BTire%2BGloss%2BGel.JPG

67%2B-%2BTire%2BGloss%2BGel.JPG

Start applying the tire gel on your tires. Add more tire gel to your applicator pad as necessary.

Here are the results!!! Stand back and admire the fruits of your labor - perfectly clean wheels and tires.

Opinions and Observations:

Foaming Wheel Cleaner Gel:
This product is true to its name. It has a gel type consistency and this makes the product cling to the wheel surface amazingly well. There was not much product wasted down to the concrete floor. This product didn`t have a strong smell associated with it and I give it a big thumbs up for this. Typical iron dissolving wheel cleaners are generally putrid and it makes them hard to use. But not the McKee`s 37 foaming wheel cleaner gel! It reacts with iron particles but it doesn`t produce much bleeding. I don`t know if this was the design of the product or not. This product effectively removes brake dust and road grime with ease and it`s relatively cheap.

Tire And Rubber Rejuvenator:
This product works amazingly well. Upon contact with the tires, it turns brown and it pulls the dirt and grime off the tires` surface. That`s without any agitation! I couldn`t believe my eyes when I was using it. It has a smell of APC, which makes sense. Product is priced extremely well too.

Gloss Tire Gel:
This product has a very thick consistency, hence the name "gel". This product spreads very easily on the tire`s surface. I don`t think this tire gel is extremely glossy. The tire gel starts off shiny but tones down a little bit moments later. I like shiny and this tire shine produces the right amount of gloss for me. If you want a matte finish, you can wipe off the excess with a microfiber towel. This product works extremely well as advertised and priced relatively well.

Conclusion:
If you want good wheel and tire cleaning products and a good tire shine product, please consider the offerings from McKee`s 37. They work extremely well as shown and are priced competitively. I`m extremely satisfied with the performance of these products and will not hesitate to purchase them again. Please give them a shot.

Thanks for reading.

Great write up Marc. Good thing you posted about the clinging ability. I was curious about that. I was using Meguiar`s Mirror Bright wheel cleaner today. Talk about non-clinging. I had better results using soap and water. The wheel cleaner looks like it clinged very well. I like that it is a gel.

I`m a fan of DP Tire Rejivenator which is now the McKee`s product you used. It cleans like there is no tomorrow. I regret not buying the gallon size of the DP wheel cleaner when AGO was cleaning house.

The new tire gel looks great. I like the thicker consistency unlike the thin consistency of DP tire gel.

Thanks a lot Mike!! I appreciate it.

Thanks for your feedback about the Mirror Bright wheel cleaner. I wanted to try that (being a Meguiar`s fan) but thanks to you, I don`t have to waste my money hahaha!

I agree with your statement about the Tire Rejuvenator "cleaning like there`s no tomorrow". I was literally blown away at how it turns brown as soon as it makes contact with dirty tires. And I also like how thick the tire gel has a very thick consistency. Makes it easy to spread around.

Seriously, these are awesome products. When the gallons go on sale, I know what I`m going to buy.

Fantastic write up Marc !!!! Love the before and after photos.

Thank you so much, Pat! I appreciate the compliment.

Great write up ! Thank you.

Stuff looks good. Will give it a try.

Thank you so much, Ron! I sincerely appreciate it.

You will not be disappointed with these.

Nice review. Looks to be really great products.

Thanks a lot, PA DETAILER! They`re indeed great products.

If you were closer I would give you the remaining bottle I have of Mirror Bright.

Great write up, it`s a how-to and review in one (win-win)!

I actually wash my wheels and tires in a similar way (same steps and brushes just different products). I use a wash mitt instead of a sponge, and degreaser instead of tire/wheel cleaner.

Q: I noticed the Jeep`s tires had some fairly significant browning going on, I was wondering how they looked after the tire cleaner before the dressing was applied, was there still browning?

The reason I ask is because while the degreaser works fine on my wheels and tires it doesn`t get all the brown off of other tires that are badly neglected (the dressing I apply hides that fact, similar to your photos).

That dressing looks phenomenal to bad I still have 1.5 gallons of tire dressing to go through.

Thank you so much for the compliments John!! :)

Before these products, I`ve always used APC but I think degreaser would work better.

I would say that I was able to remove 90% of the browning from the Jeep`s tires. I tried hitting a small portion a second round but it didn`t really pull off any browning so I thought that`s the best it`s going to get. I`m thinking the tires have never really been cleaned in the 10k mi it has been driven. But like you, the tire dressing made it look good after the application. And the tire felt squeaky clean after cleaning it with the tire and rubber rejuvenator.

Hope this helps.
