Review: Durrmaid Extractor (long)

thanks if i cant get that thing to work i might just end up asking for my money back :( . i appreciate your help anthony:xyxthumbs
 
The heating element in the Durrmaid will not activate if the water is not all the way filled to the top and the little white level thingy in the solution tank moves up. That is one big downside for me is that you have to keep filling the thing all the way up to get it to heat up.
 
i gave anthony all the info he needed to operate it, so i dont think its a user problem cause the problems i had he noticed as well
 
I do hope you DID put it on a credit card and you stopped the charge!



Contact the State Atty General, this is border-line fraud. And in your state it also may carry more or less penalties.



Since you have both contacted the distributor and the mfg of the product and have not been shown where they sold it to you "as is" or "no returns/refund etc" and have in good faith shown/explain the problem and there is no resoluion from both parties, you have a case to prove fraud.



Give them one last time to correct the problem by 1) repair or replacing your unit or 2) full refund, less shipping.



If they still refuse, inform them you will be submitting this claim with BBB, State Atty General, credit card company etc as this constitutes fraud. Interstate fraud carries heavy penalties. Send a certified return receipt letter stating the facts and your recourse.



Never give up the fight!

Another option is small claims court. You don't need a lawyer there, unless you want one. Check with the court system in your area, and they should be able to give you some help.
 
Don't think this would qualify for fraud because of the lack of intent on the manufacturer. Small claims court is a good idea because they would have to respond to your accusations in person. If you're out of state it would cost them major $$$ to travel there. It would be cheaper to give you your money back. Also check with the FTC due to the product crossing state lines. Good luck. If all else fails we can all get together and email them. With 1/2 the people on the board emailing them we should be able to convince them to give you a refund :D

Emailed them. Didn't name anyone other than I'm now looking for an extractor eleswhere. Good luck with your ordeal!
 
Well i got it fixed and he didnt have a problem fixing it but the owner is pretty anal about his product. So if you call ?ing what you want all your going to get is you dont need this and you dont need that my product does it all. Ive used the extractor 3 or 4x since i purchased it over a year ago and it works ok not any more suction then what it was before.

Turns out that while that may be a factor I also believe this unit has a bad heating element. I used my 6 ft. extractor hose on the Durmaid but could not get the heating unit to work.



Suction power is good and having the on/off switch in the front of the machine is also a plus. The unit has wheels so moving it around is easy BUT if you're working on a slanted driveway keeping it from rolling away might be a hassle.



The downsides though out wiegh the good. It is clumbersome, meaning that the shape is awkward. It takes up space because it is fat and squat. The carrying handle is in the way of the holding tanks lid and the lids themselves are a royal pain to open and close.



It also has an annoying pitch when running, not overly loud but I would hate to have to hear it for an extended period of time.



My Century 400 unit is quieter, takes up much less space, is more user friendly in the area of filling and emptying and injects and lifts water just as well for about $300 less.



The only advantage the Durmaid may have is that it is a heated unit, too bad it was not working because that may have tipped the scale.......but I personally don't think it would because of all the other downsides.

I am in the market of buying mobile carpet extractor. Glad to discover about the story behind Durrmaid. Durrmaid is off my list.



Can you recommand a good extractor? What are you using right now?



Already bought the ML7 steamer and still learning new way to use it. Do you think extractor is necessary? or the ML7 already has the best cleaning power than extractor on carpet.
 
The ML7 is a great tool and for carpets with some light dirt they alone work great.



For carpets and mats that need some help an extractor is a must. The reason is because you want to flush out the emulsified grime. I use the Century unit. It is a cold water extractor but all I need it for is to rinse out carpets. I never put any cleaners into my tank.

My first extractor was a Duramaid and it was a piece of junk. I personally talked to the owner on many different occasions and was told that he would personally take care of the problems. He never did and the company I purchased the unit from (ProperAutoCare) gave me a full refund and actually stopped doing business with this lousy company. Detailking should be ashamed of themselves for selling junk that they won't back up in good faith to their loyal customers. I will never do business with either company. Companies like Proper Auto Care stay in business because they treat their customers like they would want to be treated.

WOW. THANK GOD I FOUND THIS. Thanks to all who voiced their oppinions. I almost bought a duramaid. Now I know not to. Someone kick my *** for even second guessing Danase's advice. I just cant justify spending a 1000 on a extractor. Im not gonna be needing a 6 gallon tank found in the "smaller" big boys like the spyder and sensi. The duramaid looked so promising, with its adjustable suction and interchangable tips. oh well.



thoughts on the AZTEC danase sells . . . He personally told me people say its loud. Well, it cant be louder than my shop vac. I dont have a quiet one. Im flossing an old school craftsman 6hp - before the QSP technology. . . i just want NO LEAKS, HOT WATER, AND GOOD SUCTION - am I gonna halft to shell out another 400 bucks to just get a spyder or sensi ? im not even gonn be able to fill the tank more than 1/3 of the way - will the heater element even come on if i buy a unit that big . . . its only gonna be used once every week - IF THAT . . .



your thoughts.... and thanks again guys. I wont do any of you the dissevice of buying a duramaid or buy from detail king. That customer service is un-accptable. period. end of discussion. they wont be in buisness for much longer with service like that. at least not in the automotive end . .
