I'm not defending anyone but why is there so much criticism of 3D. I've seen this on many other forums and I'm just curious as to why? I don't know the whole backstory and I'm curious as to if anything has happened in the past.

Edit: Sorry Ron, you beat me to the punch, well said.

Just my personal opinion here but I think it is because of this promotion. I believe there are many that just resent this advertising campaign. I've talked to several behind the scenes (by way of PM) and this is what they tell me.

As I stated, I haven't seen any real negative reviews. The products probably do what they are intended to do. Lets face it, there are a number of products that meet this criteria at varying price points. The truth is that a good detailer can make a mediocre product look decent. If you visit multiple forums it's just very in your face and people don't appreciate this approach.

Personally, I would put more stock in the reviews if the 3D product were being compared to another similar product (i.e. price point, features, etc.).

for me it's not so much critism of 3d, they really don't have something that is unique to the market. To me I dislike their marketing. In this case in specific, they give stuff away for people to hit all different boards. Essentially it is free advertising for their product, but it's also in my view dis-ingenious. At least in tv advertising, it says "paid spokesman" or similar. In this case (and you are not the first) you get something and hit 309872 different forums, platforms, boards etc touting their product

This board is owned and operated by PBMG, they pay to operate it etc. It for the most cases showcases their product lines, but allow other products to be discussed. Good business in my mind, cuz they get to see whats hot and whats not. Getting a ton of paid endorsements from competition or in this case a line that they would probably be ecstatic if PBMG took and sold.

But quite simply, it's like bringing your own sandwich to a restaurant, not buying anything there and taking a booth to eat the sandwich you got somewhere else.

I can see your points. It definitely isn't the best marketing approach. But I think this is the first time they require to post on other forums.

hahah i like that example.

I'd have to agree that its in your face. But I have noticed that it's mainly on their forum where it's in your face. Which in my view is fine since it's your own forum. Just as here I'm sure they promote the lines they sell. Nothing wrong with that. Just my observation

It isn't just on their forum and there in lies the problem. It's on literally every automotive board I frequent. The primary and most important difference being that PBMG isn't for lack of a better word paying users to go tout there wares on any and every automotive forum that will allow it.

When users give a public thumbs up to PBMG's products they are products users bought and paid for. They're posting results because they want to not because it's a condition of receiving free product. It comes back to that rather loose definition of a shill. I'm sure you understand this concept.

I agree with you there. I think personally if they were going to do this, the reviews should have been on their site. My thought.

On another point, why did another member report me on another forum, which sells no car care products ahah. I was thrown off there. I get a feeling that it was because it was a 3D product

I have no idea why you were reported, who reported you, if it was one of our members or on which site this happened. At the moment you're viewed in a good light on this forum. This all said, this thread is turning into a rehash of everything that has already been said. People either get it or they don't, they'll get it or they won't.

Thread is being closed.

I wanted to add one thing (even though its closed).

Yes, I did edit your thread.

I did not call you a shill. I want to be clear that I am not in the name calling business at all! Instead, I stated that the type of advertising that you are taking part of, per your agreement with 3D, is commonly considered shilling.

I have posted, over and over again, that anybody who receives a product in order to review should make that obvious in posts. We ask for reviews on our forum, from time to time, in order to get feed back. I would ask that that is noted the same as any other.

You have been beyond a good sport about this. Apparently your reputation (done by voting) was voted down for forum members. However, your willingness to engage in this conversation and admit your mistakes shows your true character. I will "fix" the reputation button.
