Return of the turtle....

The Turtle Platium is good stuff as is NXt, Color X, Nano, and the new Mothers FX and Reflection. In fact If you like slickness Reflection is outstanding.

Do they make a wash that goes with the Platinum Series? I believe I saw some turtle wax wash at Sam's Club, dark green in color, but forgot if it was part of this lineup. May be worth trying out, although in my experience it's pretty hard to find a horrible car soap.

Yes they do make the Platinum Series car wash. I asked about i in my first post in this thread:rolleyes: Costco in Canada is selling 1 1/4 gallon jugs of it for $9.99.

I see they updated their Finish 2001 wax too.

I have a bottle of this stuff. It actually works well for the price, although i use two coats since i find one doesn't do much.

Different people interpret results differently. I get excellent results from NXT, but I don't see it as a traditional one bottle product; I see it as a two bottle system, the product and the booster wax. The product itself provides the initial shine and protection, the booster wax provides the lasting shine. That might make the product useless for some people. I'm not married to it, that's for sure, but I do like it. It's another choice.

I think it would be fair to say that at least in this forum Meguiars loses more points based on their name instead of gaining them. The reason for that is that experienced users won't consider origin when judging a product. Inexperienced users will, and there is a natural tendency, at least in America, to root for the underdog and prefer the smaller manufacturers.

I think that's pretty enlightening, what you say about TW's reputation in Mexico!

Tom

Glad to hear NXT works great for you. It is not that I dislike it, I think is a very good product that unfortunately fell victim of the hype and also had the competition deliver stiff opposition. You describe well why NXT works for you, but NXT + the booster is not an even match against the turtle by itself. How about TWPUG + PUG quick detailer? ;)

Regarding the "wow" factor that those bottle of turtle wax carry, it is not because of its brand, but rather its origin. As a whole, we view products made in "high tech countries (continents)" such as Japan, the USA and Europe, specially Germany as "superior". Just imagine the effect on my people when the bottles are even completely in English.... :woot:

And I'll bet you that the effect in the USA is the same with a product made in Germany for example. Besides, if you could see what we have in the shelves here the turtle ultra has a camping day.......

EDIT: Just check the sales circular of Gigante, one of our department stores. Tempo is the best wax you can get here OTC

Thanks for the insight, Alex, I appreciate it. I have a real lack of knowledge about economic life in other countries.

I agree that the TWPUG is a great product. I use the NXT about every 4th time I wax. I'm actually on a wax-buying moratorium right now, so I'm not getting any more TW until I use up everything else.

I dont care if Turtle Wax creates the end all lsp, i wont buy it.

I might reconsider if they stop selling the paste compound and polish, and submit a letter of apology to the world....

Heh Heh.... are you sure??

Anyway, I know what you mean.... but they taught me how to fix swirls !

Pepboys has this whole lineup. $5 off when you buy 3.

They also have the new F21 stuff (paste, liquid, wash, wheel cleaner, protectant) for a similar deal. I don't know, I wanted to try the FX spraywax so I passed on it.

i used it and really like the stuff! i'll try anything at least once, and this stuff was very good. the slickness was amazing, and the shine deep and wet looking. i like it much better than nxt. it also buffs out really well, and it wipes off easily with very little dust. i never thought i''d ever say anything good about turtle wax. i learned one thing: never say never!

Have you had a bad experiance you would like to share with us?

I once used Turtle Wax Ultra on my Dad's car. It set so hard I thought I would need a hammer and chisel to get it off. When the instructions say do a section at a time I now know why. :o

And I guess you now know why you should follow the instructions on products, generally.

Are you sure it was the platinum ultra gloss?

I find it extremely easy. I let it sit on the whole car for 10 minutes, then remove it. It is so easy to take out that even days old wax comes out with just a firm buff.

How thick did you apply it?

Turtle platinum line wheel cleaner or the F2001 wheel cleaner? I find both product lines miles apart in performance? I would be disapointed if that was the PUG wheel cleaner.

I have tried the Turtle Platinum, Eagle Nano and Meguiar's NXT. I did not care for the NXT as it left streaks a couple days later which was quite visible. I noticed that Meguiar's recent products all leave streaks, dunno why. Eagle Nano was a bit difficult to apply, it was hard to apply evenly but wipe off easily. The Turtle wax impressed me the most. Easy on/off, super hi gloss and reflectivity is awesome. My car had Zaino on and it was no comparison, the Zano had depth but seem to lack clarity when compared to the Turtle. The only drawback is durability as none of the three waxes seem to last more than a couple of weeks.

I've used TW Platinum Ultra and found it to be the best one-step cleaner wax. I was surprised by the depth and shine.

Something that I found that really make it look great was spraying it with a light, like theres any other way, coating of Zaino Z-6. I tried other QD on it but nothing gave it the shine or smoothness of Z-6.

IMO the over the counter waxes rutinely get ragged on because no one wants to admit that a $7 wax looks nearly as good as waxes costing much much more-the only expensive wax that gets ragged on is Zymol for thier ridiculous prices

I don't really agree with this. Mothers and Eagle One products usually don't get "ragged on".

Autopians are looking for the best products for their taste. I don't think price is really the determinant. Just look at the number of people who use A2Z wheel cleaner and s100 carnauba(I'm one of those people).

s100 gets routine reviews on how it looks very similar to the much more expensive Souveran.

I'm sorry if I'm ranting here, but I don't like sweeping generalizations like this.

:wavey

point taken but IMO TW gets ragged on a lot even tho they have some products which stack up competitively with more expensive products(leather conditioner and TWUP)
