mixxmstrmike- Interesting, the Griot's orange pad is *very* mild cut-wise. Heh heh, even Griot's polishes work better for me when I use different pads, at least if I'm trying to do any real correction.
I bet you felt bad, perfectly understandable!
One thing to consider is that some cars have been through you-can't-IMAGINE before you get them, even when they're "new". Those of us who've worked at dealerships could tell you stories you'd find unbelievable.
EDIT: Check this out from a recent post- "I was curious on the opinion of this board on wet sanding. Ive been doing some occasional work at a stealership and they seem to be 'wet sand crazy' lately...."
Consider that many of us have used *very* aggressive approaches with rotaries without causing clearcoat failure, let alone hitting the color coat. Something happened to your car before you got it, who knows what it really amounted to.
