Recommendations of Wax or Sealant

Today I thought I would try one of those lames wool glove washing mitts. Well after I dried the car I noticed tons of scratches/swirls. I usually just use terry cloth tows but I was looking for something better. How much work do you think getting the swirls out would be? maybe one coat of 3M SMR? What should I wash the car with??? They should put warnings on there products saying "This may scratch the crap out of your car" O, and my car was just dusty/very little dirt if any???? I'll never buy a black car again:mad:

I would guess that the swirls are not very deep, so I would go with a very light solution; the 3M Swirl Remover is about the lightest approach, so I would try that first. Then, if you use Z: Z1, then Z5, multiple coats.

The Joy of owning a black car I quess. I just Z1, Z5ed, Z6ed, Z5ed, Z6ed, Z3ed..... Well you got the picture:rolleyes: last month.

You might just be able to do another z-5 and z-2, if they are very thin, they could mostly be in the Zaino coat (if very, very thin), and you might be able to succesfully cover them up until its time for your next full detail where you can then tackle the swirls with a good polish. My $.02

I used the same cheap artificial wash mitt the first time I washed my Golf. Same thing happened. Come Spring, I'm going to use 3M SMR, clay it and re-apply Klasse.

It looked so soft:rolleyes: Why would anyone make a product that would scratch your car

How about the Chenille Wash Pads from CMA or should I get the Microfiber Wash mitt (CMA has them on sale for $9.95)?

Have you tried the Viking 100% cotton chenille ones? They are pretty good but can be hard to find depending on your area. I checked 3 pep boys, 3 wallmarts, 2 k-marts, 3 kragens, and 2-3 Autozones before I found these things at a Kragen.

Needless to say I stocked up when I found them.

There are no Kragen's in my area. We have the pep boys, warmarts and stuff like that but nothing too extreem here. I think my only options are online. Has anyone been able to find them at Pep Boys or Salvos? They’re the two big ones in my area.

Autozone also has Viking Mitts. Another word you might want to think on...

When you say you have "scratched" your car..have you scratched your clear or just maybe your layers of Zaino????

A mild suggestion, maybe you want to, maybe you don't want to follow.

Try stripping the top or two layer of Zaino off your car's surface. You may find that your "swirls" and "scratches" are merely marrs in your Zaino coatings. That way you don't have to use even a mild abrasive like 3M SWRM to get rid of "swirls" when the marks are in fact in your wax.

I thought I had many swirls on my 2001 Red Mustang earlier this spring. I then stripped off the Klasse layers Ihad, and found that my "swirls" were gone. Most of these marks were actually marrs in the Klasse/wax coating I had on the car.

You might also just want to layer on the z5 and "fill" in the swirls.

Anyway, just a thought to save you from using abrasive on the car's finish.

They have 2 types, get the plusher one with the cotton seal on it.

As for your swirls, go over the car with Z1/ Z5 and then another coat of Z5, and you should be fine. Those lambs wool mitts suck!

Most of the consumer brands of lambs wool stink! If you want a good one, order from a reputable store such as CMA, as their washing tools are top quality.

I really don't want to cover them b/c they will show back up in a few months right? But if they didn't get into the paint maybe they won't??? Or should I wash with dawn and re Z it.

DK and Brad are right. Skip the abrassives for now. Try the Z5. There is a chance the damage did not make it beyond or much beyond your paint protection, in which case you can go with a very light solution.

What's the best and easiet wax to use? Should I buy a sealant instead? Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Easiest?
Optimum Opti-seal. Wipe on, and walk away.
Optimum Car Wax. Spray on, wipe off.
They are both very easy to use and look/perform great. You will get plenty of more valid suggestions I'm sure!

Everyone will have a different opinion on what to use, but just the forget the King of them all........Blackfire!:wizard:

I like Meguiars M20 Polymer Sealant. Very easy to apply and remove and has some light cleaning ability. Looks great on both lighter and darker colors.
