Really expensive waxes...

I've seen brief, passing mentions occasionally of some pretty expensive waxes. Like hundreds of dollars expensive.

It seems like the priciest product used regularly on this board is Souveran. What are some of these waxes, and is there any real benefit to paying that kind of Pebble Beach dough?

Here's a link to some that will make your eyes water.

for $USD - just double the £GBP figure.

i have no experience of these products in use, but I can't see what they can do for $11,600!!!

I think that waxes like Pinnacle are probably worth the extra (over say P21S prices), but only if your eyes agree - it is all up to your preference and the look you are after on your car.

Wait... is that the same company that makes Zymol in light blue bottles that I can get at the Costco two or $22.00???!!!

That truly must be for someone with more money than brains.

Jason

OK, now you're supposed to apply some of this stuff with your HANDS? Melting the wax with your body heat as you apply it? This has got to be the best way I've seen in a while to seperate wealthy people from their $$.

You're comparing a cheap consumer product to an extremely high end product. I highly doubt the Zymol cleaner wax at Costco is anything like the wax mentioned here.

And the palm thing- really has nothing to do with someone's money. It's just how Zymol has made their products to be used. It works for them :nixweiss

Jason - technically it is the same company yes. But the blue bottle stuff of cleaner wax is actually made by turtle wax!!! I still rate it ok as a single stage product though.

The posh Zymol stuff - there are some on here that swear by it - the creme wax and the carbon wax (for dark paints) aren't too bad priced on their own. I'm not so sure about the hand application though. having said that, whenever I apply P21S, and my fingers go all waxy-greasy feeling - I always wonder what it would be like to apply by hand!!

Pretty funny... #7 and NXT would look just as good if not better on black, red, green, blue ect.

All for under 30 bucks too.

Well, I'm not really COMPARING anything... I wondered if they were made by the same company.

Additionally, I should have used some sort of punctuation between my thoughts at the end of the post, having gone deeper into the site and editing my post. So...

I think it's silly (only my opinion) to use your hands to apply wax. It's gotta be tough to do a thin layer. Also, I believe that an $800 jar of car wax is an awesome way to seperate a wealthy person from their money. And I've seen some Duesies.

Especially on dark metallic blue, NXT is just incredible!

I know some people do swear by some of the more moderately priced Zymol waxes and I don't think $70 is unreasonable for Souveran since it does have a wet shimmer I haven't seen with any other product.

Are the really expensive Zymol products worth the price? They are if someone is willing to pay that much.

I know of one guy who uses Zymol ( a dumb Architect but without the money LOL) and another guy that used it for eight years, his sig is DavidB

I actually have seen a few cars with those Zymol wax with 3 digit price tags, and I wasn't impressed.

Having used Zymol Carbon, it is a good wax, lasts a long long time and looks amazing with proper prep work. However, same quality job can be achieved with 3M which costs much less.

Well, I'm not an architect yet, but I do use Zymol. I have compared it to other waxes, and IMO for what I was looking for, my Zymol brand soundly met and exceeded my expectations. It was worth the asking price to me.

I think Pinnacle Souveran looks better than anything on black or dark blue or red, even against Zaino. I think it's worth every penny to be honest.

if you've got the money to "waste" on high priced Zymol that's your business-they should at least include a pair of magic glasses so that you can see the difference compared to other products  a waxing fool and his money are soon departed:eek:

lbls1,

Which brand do you use? I can definitely see paying up to around a hundred dollars or so for a wax that truly knocks your socks off, especially if it's a garage queen. But $800 or $1,400? Even with refills, that's a lot of dough.

Sorry for the lag!! I use Zymol Concours. The best way to get an idea of my opinion of it is to read my review of it in the review section (otherwise this will be a long post!). Believe it or not, I am tempted by some of Zymol's other offerings, but at $700-$1600 and beyond, it is definitely beyond my practical means.

I have used other waxes as well (I love p21s, it is my commuter car's signature wax!), but for me the experience I got from Concours made my eyes pop!! It is an excellent finish product (in fact, the entire Zymol line is of very high quality-even those fake cheapo waxes in AutoZone, that sells between 13 and 20 bucks..go figure!).

I'm thinking it also looks fantastic on silver. For the heck of it, I used the spit shine method and applied Souveran to my car tonight. I hope to do another coat via spit shine tomorrow or Monday.

Actaully the Zymol that you see on the shelf is distributed by Turttle Wax. The higher line of Zymol is not the same. They are specially blended waxes that can range from $40-$1000. IMO all of these expensive waxes are not worth the money. They don't last long and the extra pop is not that much better to justify them costing 2-10 times as much as P21s. Hey even some award winning show cars uses Meguiars or Mothers, then again if I had a 1962 Ferrari GTO I would have the money and want to rub it with a $500 wax.
