Rasky's Auto Detailing: '08 Accord detail

2008 Accord, 18K miles, 1-step exterior and complete interior detail.

This car belongs to the same owner of the Honda Element that I had the paint wrinkle issue with. The car was VERY clean and I really only found one minor paint defect which is shown below.

Process was to first wash with Meguiars Gold Class car soap, using a soft wash mitt and the 2 bucket method. I used P21S Wheel gel on the wheels and let it dwell while I washed the exterior. I then agitated them with my EZ brush. Tires were cleaned with Amazing Roll Off and scrubbed with a stiff brush. Wheel wells were cleaned with Meguairs APC+.

The paint was then clayed using Meguiars Clay and Last Touch as lube. The was a fair amount of bonded surface contaminants, though the below pic doesn't look as bad as it did in person

This was the only visable paint defect

Interior was given a thorough vacuum and was then purged with air. Carpets and matts were cleaned using the LGM with Folex solution. Vinyl was clean with 1Z Einszett Cockpit Premium Interior Plastic Cleaner. Seats were clean with Meguiars APC. I also gave all the fabric a 3M Scotch Guard treatment.

Hi
08ACCORD16.jpg

A gave the exterior a 1-step buff using Meguiars M205 via the Flex DA and a black LC classic foam pad. While there was no visible marring, this process definitely added some gloss....heck even my girl noticed the difference. :D

LSP was Zaino Z2/ZXF (x3) with Z8 wipe down the next morning. Tires were dressed with Meguiars Hyper Dressing at 3:1. Glass was done with Meguiars D120 glass cleaner. All exterior lamps were polished with M205 and then protected with ZAIO. Wheels were also given a once over with ZAIO

After pics...car is cool green color, but the pics don't reflect it very well IMO.

Looking good Chad.

Thanks Dana!

Love those one-stepper's Chad! Looks great:biggrin:

Thanks Angelo, this really was an easy detail, but I had to share since I actually got Zaino to work for me. :D

Thanks for getting me my LC pads and 1Z in time for the weekend too!

Nice work Rasky! That's a nice color. I really like using M205 for a 1-step!

Thanks Bill. I don't know what I would do without M205... ;)

Nice job! Car looks great!

Thank you!

Looks very nice, makes me want to go out and detail something.

Thanks Nick!

WHAT PAD DO YOU USE ON LAMPS? FOAM POLISHING PAD WITH 205? Will this effect the UV coating on the lamp?

I used the same black LC pad as I did on the paint. I was not aggressive enough on them to affect the UV coating. They were in really good shape and just needed a light fluff. ;)

Unless you?re wet sanding or using a very aggressive compound you shouldn't have to worry too much about the UV coating....and if you have to get that aggressive I think the coating is probably toast already. ;)

Glad you got the Zaino worked out before you smear up your hard work on the Porsche. ;)

Thanks Billy!

The guy with the Porsche actually called and canceled last week. I guess he spent too much money buying the car that he couldn't justify spending a few hundred to make it look the way it's supposed to look. :out: Turns out it had a salvage title too, and when I looked at the car it was in very poor shape with LOTS of old dried compound in the cracks everywhere. I'm actually kind of glad he canceled because of the amount of work it needed....though it would have been nice for my portfolio

Rasky,

The Accord looks great, inside and out! I love M205, although I only use it with the G110.

You definitively seem to have mastered Z2. :)
