Random thoughts thread

I need a weekend to myself and my unused car care products. I really don`t want to detail any cars this weekend unless they are mine.

trashmanssd- IMO that "worse in ideal/better in wet" is a great trade-off, I do the same thing.

Heh heh, 9K is more than I ever got out of a set on an F-body, but then you swapped early too. I really, *REALLY* oughta do that on the Crown Vic but the [crappy] Goodyears have so much tread left...sounds like you and I are both displeased with Goodyears :D

What prompted you to go with the Contis? I`m currently all about Michelins, but then I`m not driving an F-body these days either and I bet big sedans need completely different rubber.

I went with Conti`s because of reviews/Price/availability/in usable sizes for my car. There are some excellent Michelin`s in my size but they are in the 400-450$ per tire range. The Conti`s were 269 front and 313 rear per tire, I was going to try BF Goodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S as they were just under 200 per tire front and rear and have been getting very good reviews but those are on back order every where for 2-3 months and I made decision this year i was done with the OEM goodyears. I don`t dislike goodyears I have Duratrac`s on my tundra and like them a lot its more to do with the ones on my Camaro are really a track tire (similar to whats on Rons car) which the car reviewers love when they run them on a track but out in the real world they have way to many compromises for my liking. I think right now much like cars we are lucky to have many brands of tires making very good products. Yet no one is perfect and every manufacturer makes a few stinkers also.

Third gear is like "SAFE"!!!!

If you do much more then put it in 3rd gear and hold your speed steady it will look like this.

trashmanssd- Thanks for explaining your choice so well. Yes indeed, so many factors to consider...*including availability*. Need a tire or two in the middle of nowhwere.....

I always wonder about "customer reviews" if only because IME most people have zero desire/ability/etc. to objectively evaluate tires (or much of anything else on a car).

I`m watching "What`s My Car Worth" and I really get disturbed by how they wear watches and lean over the car and then he moves his watch hand and I don`t know how it`s not hitting the paint...it drives me crazy seeing video`s online etc as well when people have watches on and are detailing vehicles

The younger guy annoys me, and I can`t stand to see them lean on cars like they own it. I see them pop the hood and lean on the fender all the time.

Oh man me too! They don`t need to lean on anyone`s car. It really annoys me. I like the show, but keep your mitts off the paint!

I like my watches, but I don`t rmuch like wearing one. Since I`ve retired, I go watchless often enough that it runs down pretty often. But it doesn`t bother me as much as wearing a ring does, I hardly *ever* have my wedding band on.
