House of Wax- You get the brakes bled OK? That can be a huge PIA on some vehicles...

trashmanssd- Yikes, that's awful about the salt/etc. killing the rotors so fast! What about getting them plated or something...the guys who cryo my rotors have a shop that does zinc plating for semis (their rotors are *really* pricey) and it turns out a lot better than the "zinc plating" (scare-quotes intentional ) that sometimes comes on them from the manufacturer. Just trying to think of something that might help with the issue, not trying to be a "Mr. Has All the Answers" about it or anything..

I'm thinking of getting Vortex rear sets for the bike to add the quick shifter module and switch to GP Shift pattern. Has anyone ever switched to GP shift? I think it'd take me awhile to get used to the new pattern after riding with the traditional pattern for so long.

Yeah, I had to wake my wife up to come help me bleed them lol. All reports I got back from her this morning was everything is working great. No more vibration.

We get plenty of salt thrown down in Northern illinois....I've never had any issues using rotors that have been turned. Hard to pass up at $16

We get car rotors ones cheap enough its not a big deal tossing them each brake job. The ones on our international ramp truck on the other hand are $$$ and those only lasted 4 years and were toast.

Having someone at the store call out your name and strike up a conversation when you don't have a clue who they are is just the worst. I can only imagine the god awful look on my face as I'm racking my brain trying to remember who they are

My buddy offered to trade rides(his was GP shift) for a few miles and i declined because i knew it was going to throw me off and i didn't want to mess anything up on that bike had quite some $ worth of upgrades on.

I was working out at a gym at Ft. Bragg, NC one summer when a woman and girl approached me and starting thanking me for everything I'd done for them. It seems she thought I was the doctor who had operated on the young girl. [I'm NOT a doctor!] I tried to tell her it wasn't me, but she didn't believe it, so I conceded that I was who she thought I was and it was my pleasure in life to be able to help people in need. They both went away very happy.

It's supposed to make it easier to upshift while leaning or exiting a corner and hard acceleration. It's a lot easier to click down to upshift while leaning over than it is to click up. The downside I've heard is that downshifting feels awkward or if muscle memory takes over and you downshift while hard acceleration - then it can be a bad night. The more I think of it the more I think I'll pass.

That's what i was thinking, up shifting can get awkward during turns, but IMO it really doesn't happen often enough to do the switch for a bit of extra comfort (unless you're on a real track racing or riding aggressively through turns). For me personally, i don't think it's worth the risk due to what you mentioned in regards to muscle memory, i can't imagine the scare of accidentally going down a gear while going at HWY speeds or even worse, during a turn. Plus most street bikes will have standard shifting, and if you end up getting another bike then that's another thing you'll have to potentially switch on it from now on.

I'd invest in some frame sliders(if you don't have them already and don't mind the look) and stands/tools/gear to make your life easier instead.

"Partz-heimer's" disease (versus full-blown Alzheimer's) is a terrible feeling, like when you KNOW you parked your car somewhere near the entrance of Sam's Club, but forgot that you had your wife's car and not yours (Stop laughing!!).

I make it a point to introduce myself by my full name to someone I think I know and then ask them "I should know you, but I do not remember your name." Yes, they will give that astonished look like, "Are you mentally lost! I worked with you 10 years ago at company XYZ." Or if they do call me by name first, I make it a point to stop the conversation and reply, " I am sorry, and know you from company XYZ, but I do not remember your name." While it may be embarrassing to ask for someone's name, it's more embarrassing to go through a whole conversation with someone and never acknowledge them by their name. I have no problem asking someone new, "You are you again?" or repeat their name out-loud just to verbalize and hear it for myself to help me remember it.

One trick I have learned in business is to ask for business cards from individuals I meet for the first time. Seeing their name printed on a card , again re-enforces the name in my mind, plus know I have a crib-note in my hand I can refer to IF I forget their name in the course of a conversation that may occur later in a day. It's almost a necessity for me if I meet more than four people at one time, as that is the first thing I will ask them, "Do you have a business card?" It is surprising sometimes how many professional business people do not have them one their person when meeting someone they never met before in person. I think it's just a professional courtesy to exchange business cards along with the introductory greeting and handshake. To those of you who can remember names with no problem, I applaud and envy your ability. I have to use my work-around for this, and, yes, it is embarrassing to myself to do so sometimes. But as stated, it is more embarrassing not to address someone by their name (or the wrong name of someone else you met that day), as it is their personal identity they are known by.

Parking your car at big malls or large lots tip (wife still forgets I tell her all the time but????), take a picture with your phone of the closest parking lot sign "blue 8" or "F32" or "Level 3 Section B". We all think I will remember but when you don't oh boy.
