Random thoughts thread

i'll take the heat before the aftermath of snow any day. I LOVE cold weather, but snow just gets in the way (especially in the detailing world) and can be inconvenient more times than not. Heat is killer down here in TX but at least you can come and go as you please, of course i need to prepare myself mentally and take a few deep breaths before opening my front door any time i go out.

Same here. Florida is a little more southern then I would've planned but she wants to be near some kind of family and with us loving the water, it seems to make the most sense. We'll plan on taking a trip either this summer or next in July/August to really see how hot it really is, although I'd rather stay inside because of heat and not because I'm stuck from the cold and snow. There are a few big trade offs that we talked about but the general consensus is that we need a lifestyle change from spending 6 months inside due to cold. I guess as of now the Ohio cons outweigh the Florida cons. Now to get down there and start planning a new future to make the jump in a few years and see where we'd like to stay north of West Palm Beach.

Even with it being so far away it's pretty exciting and a little scary, just gotta stick to our goals and make the sacrifices to try and better ourselves and our son.

Did this just a few years ago ..just south of West Palm ... it takes a little getting used to but it beats the cold any day of the week .. even on the hottest days there is air conditioning or pools .. but when the sun goes down you can still get out 365 .. when I was in NY you could depend on some hibernation especially when the Polar winds came ..brrrrrr .. Things are definitely different and it really takes most people 2-3 years to get used to it, but it's worth it to me ..

Where'd you move from? And any tips or things to consider for preparing for a 1000+ mile move?

My neighbor down the street on top of his van with a car wash brush...guess he doesn't own a ladder...

I know this wasn't directed at me... But...............

I moved from CT about 3.5 years ago. IMHO, take a few trips so you can see different areas. Also, FL is different winter months than summer. Both weather wise and traffic wise (snowbirds) so make a few trips to the areas you like.

came from upstate NY .. we brought basically, vehicles, warm weather clothes, pictures, decorative items from over the years and started from scratch as far as furniture .. the cost and effort of moving big stuff is just a real PITA ... you can literally fill a house with furniture for less than a moving van and aches and pains of the effort ...
